Kari (kari680) | 9 comments I don't have a lot of information on this book so I know it's a long shot, but I can't remember details. I don't even remember character names. The only thing I remember is that the hardback verson had a picture of a desolate looking winter scene in which there is a female dressed in furs standing on a ledge that overlooks the landscape in the background. If I remember correctly, she's not wearing much in the way of furs (I just remember thinking, "Now why doesn't she go put something on??"). I vaguely remember that she's possibly the antagonist in the story. That's all I've got. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Antagonist or protagonist? And you don't remember anything else about the book? Where it was set, what they were doing, why you thought it was fantasy and not a historical?

Aerulan | 1317 comments Huge long shot (especially with the antagonist/protagonist question unanswered) but maybe Wolverine's Daughter by Doranna Durgin? Wolverine's Daughter by Doranna Durgin

ETA actually I just checked and probably not, the cover I was thinking of is apparently for the ebook version. Which is weird because I've got the paper version of the book and I don't usually mix up covers for books I actually have. Of course the paper version cover is really ugly so I may have blocked it out.

Kari (kari680) | 9 comments Ann: I think she's the antagonist. I don't remember anything else, no. I know it was a fantasy because that's pretty much all I ever read. The character on the cover is wearing white furs with a hood. I really, really wish I could remember more but I just can't. I know it's a long shot.

Aerulan: Thanks, but you're right... that's not it. And I understand about the ugly covers. lol Sometimes I wonder what the artist(s) is/are thinking about!

If the cover is ugly, the artist is usually thinking, "The publisher is a right prat." The artists do the cover to order. (I have a friend who makes a living as a cover artist.)

SparksofEmber | 957 comments When you read it, was it a newer book at the time or something old you just happened to read then?

message 8: by Kari (new)

Kari (kari680) | 9 comments Ladysaotome... It was neither particularly new nor particularly old. Just a random book I picked up, really. It was new to me but it hadn't just been published.

Jennifer | 22 comments What about Julie of the Wolves? She's not standing on a ledge, but is hooded in winter..

message 12: by Kari (new)

Kari (kari680) | 9 comments Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Unfortunately, none of them are it. Jonquil... that looks really close but it's not it. She's standing on the other side of the book, doesn't have an animal beside her that I can remember, and is dressed in white furs as it's a winter landscape.

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Kari, was the book geared towards adults, teens or children?

message 14: by Julia (new)

Julia (julia103) | 31 comments This is a long shot since it is the third in a series, but could it be Power Play (Petaybee, #3) by Anne McCaffrey Power Play?

message 15: by Kari (new)

Kari (kari680) | 9 comments Tab: The book was geared toward adults.
Julia: Nope, not it either. I wish I could think of more details but it was just too darn long ago!

The Snow Queen (The Snow Queen Cycle, #1) by Joan D. Vinge

Kari, I maybe have seen the cover, but unfortunately I don't recall the book! I just remember looking at it and thinking it made no sense to show so much skin in the snow. It was a kind of tough-looking lady with curly dark hair in a fur cloak over a typical 80s fantasy fur and chainmail bikini getup.

Maybe have a look at some MZ Bradley Darkover books? A lot of that series has snow.

Did you check this list?

No I thought about that first but most of her is covered and I found this obscure cover and gave it a go.

Kari (kari680) | 9 comments Thanks to all of you! But unfortunately, none of those is it. *sigh* I just CANNOT remember! haha Oh well.

Miriam: I know it isn't MZB because she's my favorite author! How did you guess? lol

Juels: I know it's not the Dragonlance series either because I've read most of them.

The woman on the cover has her back to the reader. And she's standing on a cliff overlooking the snowy landscape. I don't remember her hair color or if, indeed, any hair is shown. But she IS scantily clad. Much too scantily for the weather.

Thanks again all of you! I'll keep searching.

Happy Reading!
