Hi Ana - it generally means anything in the business world - so an excecutive, a lawyer, banker, etc. along with anyone in a supporting role - secretary, administrative assistant...

Jane also said that anyone who owns their own business would work, too.

Hope this helps!

~KarenH~ | 11383 comments Tina, will you please add how your book qualifies, according to the rules Jane listed?

* To qualify for a theme, the book's eligibility must be apparent in the title or precis, or must appear on another GR member's shelves appropriately and transparently entitled. The source of the eligibility must be specified at the time of the book selection.

Thanks!

Ana | 55 comments i am thinking to read one of the harvard business review's 10 must read books: HBR's 10 Must Reads on Managing Yourself. this is business it should count right?

message 58: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11383 comments Ana, I'm not sure if that will qualify, since the rule actually mentions a main character... "Main character from the corporate world (business man or woman; small business counts and ppl who work in offices, eg clerks, accountants, managers)". I've posted a question for Jane, I'm sure she's sleeping now, but hopefully she will answer before too long!

~KarenH~ | 11383 comments Ok, Jane posted her response, and I was correct in thinking the book needs to be a novel, with a main character involved in business. Sorry! :(

Sure, nobody else has requested it for this week, so you've got it!

message 64: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11383 comments Ana, you're more than welcome to use the pass this week if you want it, but if you're using it because you're having trouble finding a book to read, remember as an alternate to the given theme you can read anything from any of your teammates' READ shelf that was read within the last 6 months and rated at least 3 stars. I've got you down for the pass, but if you change your mind, just let me know.

Archer wants the one woman he shouldn't, his best friends sister. After one night together and plenty of mistakes can he get Ivy to trust him enough to keep her in his life. I really like this book, I found at times I wanted to yell at Archer and Ivy for being so stuburn!

~KarenH~ | 11383 comments Hi Tina!

I'm a little concerned about whether or not the description of the main character in your book is sufficient for it to qualify...it say billionaire, but doesn't specify where his money came from. I did find it on a shelf that qualifies though: billionaire-millionaire-ceo, so I'm going to add that in the list of weekly reads, just to be on the safe side! :-)

Nev and Cath came from completely different worlds, but both were struggling with the need to change their lives, Cath escaping a painful past, and Nev a stifling, unhappy present. I really enjoyed watching both of them find the strength to make the changes needed to find their true calling, and build a happy life together.

There's something I just don't get... who... why... what.... mmmhmmm....

How in the world is it possible that THIS book has over 13,000 readers and a 4.0 average rating???
It is soooooo bad I can't even think of a single thing that's good about it, is it because of the female lead (view spoiler) and she's supposed to be somethink like a heroine for those who might be in her situation?

Writing?... awful!
Editing?.... nonexistent
Characters?... annoying, exasperating, irritating
Plot?... meh!, Fifty shades wanna be with a twist?
Le sexy time?... I've had better, much much better...not sure if I've had worse

LOL! Gee Lili, tell us how you really feel! Although I have to say, if the whole book is as poorly written as the precis, I would tend to agree with you as far as the writing and editing goes!

Hi Ana, would you please add how your book qualifies to your post? That's part of the requirements, and makes it a lot easier for me, and especially for Jane, who has to go through every group's posts each week. In the case of your book it's obvious, and covered in the precis, but that information needs to be in your post. Thanks!

Lili | 343 comments Week 3 - Simply Irresistible (Chinooks Hockey Team, #1) by Rachel Gibson Simply Irresistible 02/22*****

A great start to a new series.
It was very interesting reading about Georgie and John, they both grew up and changed so much.
First we got a glimpse at what they were like when they were young and stupid... I would've liked to read about Georgie and how she dealt with finding out she was pregnant, how she became the woman John found at a function later on.
Lexie was an amazing character, the way she wrapped John around her little finger was hilarious...

This is my first book from this author and I was not disappointed! Sarah has to move to California and can only think about getting back to Arizona until she meets Angel. Sarah and Angel are always together but can one small lie keep them apart. I loved this book and can not wait to read more from this series.

~KarenH~ | 11383 comments Week 3: The Nothingness of Ben by Brad Boney The Nothingness of Ben 2/26/14 - 4 stars
Even though it began with a tragedy, this was such a feel-good story! Watching Ben learn how to be a combination of parent and older brother to his three younger siblings while still managing to build his law career, plan for the future, and fall in love, was just a delight. I listened to the audio version, and I enjoyed both the writing style and the narration. My only small complaint about the narration was that some of the voices didn't have much differentiation, so I lost track of who was speaking a time or two. Most of the time it wasn't an issue though, and overall I thought the performance was very good.

This was a new author for me and I want more. This was hot but not in a very graphic way!!! Hayden is the ice princess when around Brent the alpha male cop but when they let down their defenses spark fly and they come to find out that they where just what the other need to be happy!

I really really enjoyed this book, plain Jane gets the handsome guy, what's not to love?
cheesy?, yes... over-used plot?, absolutely... still works?, hell yeah!

The main characters are amazing, Luc comes with some serious bagagge but that's what makes him interesting. Jane is a contradiction, plain and with librarian looks about her, but we find out she writes some pretty hot porn-ish stories as a job.

Is it really the quiet ones you have to watch out for?... looks like it!
