amaldae (staticatku) | 593 comments Just edit the author field on a book edit page. If related to authors having the same name, just add spaces between the first and last name to create a new profile.

The said author already has a profile on Goodreads but some of her books are listed under an author with the same name. I just want to move those.

amaldae (staticatku) | 593 comments Yes, just edit the author field on those books so that the name there reflects the one on the profile they have claimed.

Doesn't work :/ They have the EXACT same name. So it doesn't change the author to the one I want to.

Hayley That's when you add the extra spaces - I'm still in the dark about how you find out how many spaces are on each author profile though...

You could always look at the author field on any records already linked to the correct profile, if those exist. In case a new profile needs to be created, you have to just experiment, lol.

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments go to one book on the author you are moving to. Edit it, copy ctrl c the author name, but dont save or change anythinh. In another tab, go to the book you are moving. Open the all editions page, then right click and open in new tab each edition. paste the author name you got from first tab. Save and close each tab as you go.

Very important you get all the editions, and that is the

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments gah, posting from tablet, hit post too fast and cant edit lol.

As I was saying, that is the best way to make sure you get all the editions. When you are done go back to first tab and don't forget to do any combining needed.

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments You can also use the similar authors page (via the edit author page) to help out, it even lists how many spaces they have in their name, but it's not always helpful. Sometimes, you just gotta keep adding spaces until you hit an empty profile.

Fantastic XD

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments The "similar authors" as krazykiwi says is great for seeing/copying relevant author info or figuring out which author is which when they have same name... but that only works when one of the author's isn't a goodreads/claimed author profile.

(I wish the "similar authors" link showed even when all authors by that name were goodreads authors)

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments Oh yeah, I totally forgot that little SNAFU. I agree, I wish you could see that page for any author, instead of having to hunt for one that it works on.

Heather King (goodreadscomheatherkinguk) | 12 comments Please can you help? I am in a boxed set, but the link goes to an author with the same name. A librarian has kindly added spaces to my name, but I cannot edit the book's details as I am 'not' one of the listed authors. My novella from the anthology and another of my titles have been added to the other author's page and I can't see how to follow the instructions here.

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments #16 - Just provide us the link to the book/collection you are talking about or at least the ISBN/ASIN, and we can fix it.

Heather King (goodreadscomheatherkinguk) | 12 comments Brilliant, thank you!
This is the official boxed set:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

This is the novella - not yet released on its own:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

This is my other title (which has had my name altered):
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

This is the other author's page:
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Thank you! I've been messing about for hours, trying to sort it out!
