How many horror novels can you get out of this article?

James Herbert already tapped that.

Char | 17459 comments For some reason this blows my mind. A big ship floating around abandoned like that?
If you were one of those scrap guys, would you go on that ship for a million bucks?

message 5: by Char (new)

Char | 17459 comments I wonder if you could set off a rat bomb type thing and gas them first? Yes, this is the way my mind works. LOL

Shaun Horton | 324 comments Hmmm....cannibal rats...with nothing else to eat....seems to me like after a while the problem would solve itself.

Seems to me that there is something the Canadians aren't saying. Like why they left food onboard....and how they know the rats are a biohazard....

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 3047 comments Hmm..Ghost Ship, Night Shift, Hannibal, Silence of the Lambs, I'm sure there's more but wow..keep that ship away from the coast!

Or gone right! Maybe this is Canada's passive aggressive way of breaking with the British monarchy. They are taking advantage of "gentle succession". This could be the first shot, the beginning of the end.

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments LOL! I think you may be onto something, Ken! Maybe I didn't give the Canadians enough credit. After all they did give us John Candy and The Kids in the Hall. And can't forget mail order prescription pain killers! Very sly, Canada! Very sly!

We are talking about Canada, right? The only country on the planet that couldn't make the French run?

Seized a ship from the Russians?

ROFLMAO!

The Russians dumped it.
The Canadians tried to scrap it.

And activated a Stalin era weapon.

I'll miss Europe.

That was my thought. Cannibals eat their own kind. Now, if they were rats hellbent on eating only human flesh, there might be a problem.

Rats eat each other normally.

They manage to overcome this by breeding constantly

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments The rats just have to shag each other faster than they can snack on each other. Ahhhh...the wheels of life.

Where do you think fertility drugs come from?

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments I just thought they were ordered from a Canadian online pharmacy :)

The Canadians get them from radioactive Russian ship rats. ;)

David Haynes | 3257 comments Slightly off topic...
My granddad was in the Royal Navy during WWII as an engineer in the fleet. He was completely toothless and he told us that on one occasion the ship he was on encountered a deserted vessel off South Africa somewhere. Six engineers including him were ordered onto the vessel to see if they could start the engines. They all got sick very quickly and were rushed to hospital in Durban where all of his teeth, and those of his colleagues, fell out in less than 24 hours.
We thought it was a tall tale to explain away his false teeth. However when he died we found his diary , which was absolutely fascinating. Only three pages had clearly been torn out - the dates immediately before and after he was in hospital on Durban.
I'm still not sure what that was all about!

Char | 17459 comments That's messed up, David.

I remember seeing a documentary on PBS about some of the US Navymen near the Bikini Atoll when atomic testing started. They were lined up on a ship and one of the other officers was testing each man with a geiger counter. When the counter went off, he would point them to a tub of water and some soap. No lie. They thought it could be washed off.

Sounds like a good cheesy SyFy movie

Angelo Marcos (angelomarcos) | 69 comments If they're cannibal rats with no other source of food, surely eventually there'll just be one morbidly obese rat on the ship... ;-)
