Jeanne Zika Hi, I am Jeanne I am new to the group. I have been reading scifi since a kid. Back in the 50's, I grew up reading Astounishing/Amazing, Galaxy and F&SF magazines, and the golden age classics as they came into print. What a great time it was. In Amazing, there was a series of stories in the 50's about mankind making contact with a species that looked like large, live, big teddy bears. They were at an early stage of evolution. Earth needed their planet, as it was in a critical position in a interstellar was earth was involved in. So a team had been sent there to speed their evolution along, while still trying not to hurt them or impose too much on them. It was so funny and they were so cute. Someone also mentioned Star Wars cute creatures. I have not read Little Fuzzies, but it looks like there is a line of stories over the years about cute little fuzzies aliens that we meet. It is interesting that all these fuzzies are at a lower stage of tech than we are. I suppose it would not work as a story if they were higher than we are. Does anyone know of any stories earlier that the 50's of cute creatures? I do not. Most stories are of monsters out to get us. Jeanne

I agree it was a nice change of pace that we were not at war.
