Natasha House (natashahouse) | 14 comments I was wondering if any authors and readers would be interested in joining a group where we feature authors each month and try to get them up to 25 + honest reviews on amazon. I'm part of one already, but they are always booked. Was thinking about starting up one. Any takers?? Even if it helps authors a little bit, it all counts! It would be through Facebook

Natasha House (natashahouse) | 14 comments You don't read 25 books by yourself. You just pick at least one of the books from one of the authors. If you can review one of each of their books, that's great too!!

Any one interested in review exchange, I am willing. Send me the link of your e-book. Mine is on amazon and is only 99C

Hi Daniel,
Your book sounds very interesting. My book is a paranormal mystery. Not heavy on romance. Would like to swap for reviews? We can exchange through our computers or with Kindle. I just have 3 books to finish first. I could read your book next week.
Thanks,
Susanne

Daniel Pearson (danielsinclairpearson) | 99 comments It sounds very interesting Susanne, if I enjoy the story I'll write a good review. I will buy your book in a couple of days. If you truly enjoy reading mine I would appreciate a fair review but if you hate it don't bother writing one.
Thanks
Daniel

Daniel Pearson (danielsinclairpearson) | 99 comments Dr. Sabri, your book sounds intriguing to me. I have a high tolerance for the unusual point of view so I will buy your book in a couple of days and exchange fair reviews. By the way the subject amtter and storyline in my own science fiction novel is highly controversial. Daniel Sinclair Pearson (Alien Birthright) available at amazon.com
The Kindle version is more affordable although it is offered for free to Kindle prime library users.
Best regards
Daniel

J.J. Baine (jjbaine) | 9 comments I dislike the term "honest review". Does that mean you want people to be truthful in their reviews? Some people are genuinely so upset that the paperback version isn't out yet that they will be truthful in saying so when they give the ebook a 1-star rating.

I think what most authors mean, without wanting to directly admit it, is that they want genuinely positive reviews that may include some mentions of things readers didn't like in a story they overall thought was at least decent. I won't lie when I say that I'd rather have more good reviews than bad and that most bad reviews I've seen on clients' work has been overly critical and borderline stupid.

The way I am approaching reviewing other storytellers' work is fair (and I guess "honest", too), in my opinion. Basically, 1 and 2 star reviews should be reserved for works that are blatant rip-offs that readers should avoid as a matter of consumer safety. Otherwise, what good do those particular ratings mean?

If anyone wants to look at the review method I've put together and adopt it or refer to it, please feel free: http://jaxybaine.wordpress.com/ebook-...

I honestly just wish Amazon could adopt some form of rating system for books that is similar to Netflix's rating system for films.

Hi J.J.,
I agree with you. I just received a one star review on Barnes & Noble because the reader didn't "personally" like the book. She didn't believe the characters were deep enough. I'm having this problem because some of the characters are vampires and they are cold and not too deep.

Hi Daniel,
I'll buy your book next week. I'll finish the three others that I promised to review. I'm putting in a large group of edits to loosen the characters up a bit. I've been told they are too stiff. I have to keep the vampires cold and stiff. The story line is staying the same.

I wish I could be surprised. I've seen 5-star reviews that said the reader was excited that the book was released and they couldn't wait to read it (i.e. they didn't actually read the book), and 1 and 2 star reviews that basically were the equivalent of "Dur, I didn't get it".

I agree. I've seen books being slammed for the cost or the length. The focus needs to be on the content, after all, that information isn't hidden and the reviewer shouldn't penalize the author for their own ignorance.

***********TEASER ALERT**********
...he still had his hands around my throat. I couldn't do anything but nod my head in agreement as tears fell from my face. I was digging myself deeper into this scheme and was starting to realize that my plan was a mistake, There was no turning back at this point and I knew that I had to see the plan all the way through, I needed him to fully trust me. After he took his hands from my neck and placed them back on the steering wheel for us to head home, I knew that I had to make an impression on him to assure him that I was all in. I placed my hands on his lap as we drove and knew I had to say something to ease the tension.
"Just like Bonnie and Clyde baby." I stated as I stroked the outside of his hand. A look of relief came over him as he looked back at me.
"Damn right, just like Bonnie and Clyde."
