This book is about 'The Help' as in the maids and housekeepers in the south. In the beginning it shows how some white people are different when it comes to the maids. For example, Miss Hilly is completely rude and refuses to use the same bathroom as them so she convinces her friend Elizabeth to make a seperate bathroom for their maid. Then there is Miss Skeeter who wants to write a book about their lives and their stories. But Miss Hilly gets in the way of all that when she tries to get Skeeter to go on a blind date and she gets distracted from her task.
