SOLVED. Parallel Universe Pen-pals [s]

I remember someone telling me about a book where a man and woman wrote each other letters. The man was an artist, I think, and the woman had seen his art and started writing him. It turned out that they were in parallel universes or something like that. I don't remember much because it was a few years ago when I heard about it, but I think they found out that they weren't in the same universe because she stayed at his house for a few weeks when he was away but the people next door never saw her. Does this ring any bells for anyone?

Pretty sure this is Nick Bantock's Griffin and Sabine series. Griffin is an artist and one day he receives a postcard from a mysterious woman named Sabine who seems to know all about his art. They're wonderful with gorgeous artwork and a fascinating story.
