Lori, I am sure I will. I did sign up for the ARC from Regal, so I'm kind of waiting to see what happens with that. Loved your review and it made me even more anxious to read it!

Oooh.. so many different things going on in that book! I told my husband that it has now created this urge in me to visit cemeteries, and really look at the tombstones and wonder about the lives of the people buried there.....
For my face-to-face book club, we're reading 4 tales of Edgar Allan Poe (I'm leading the discussion, actually). Which leaves lots of time to fit in other books this month - yay! I've just finished Little Heathens Hard Times and High Spirits on an Iowa Farm During the Great Depression. Not exactly sure what to start next - The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo? The Secret History? Or one of the other 280+ books on my to-read shelf? Decisions, decisions . . .
So I am reading Sarah's key - Tatiana de Rosnay and my next three reads are:1- House of Leaves
2- The Lovely Bones
3- The Fraction of the Whole (it's a work book club read but I let someone else borrow it so hopefully I get it back by then)
Next on my list, after I finish the lengthy An Echo in the Bone will be:Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger
The Woman in Black A Ghost Story by Susan Hill
A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris
The Owl Killers by Karen Maitland
Odd and the Frost Giants - WBD Book by Neil Gaiman
Kathy, HFS was really good. I liked it, even though a good chunk of the reviews on here favor TTW to it, I think I might like HFS more!
Let me know how ODD is... I am curious about it!

I'll be sure and get back to you on it, Lori. I can so far say that I love the book jacket, back and front. I hope to get some good reading time in on An Echo in the Bone, halfway through the 800 pages that is short for Gabaldon. LOL

Dree, I've have Methland on my to-read for the rest of this year. Glad to see you gave it 4 stars.

Lori, [book:The Woman in White is on my short list, but I've bumped it down with The Woman in Black A Ghost Story, which I have coming from Amazon any day now. Now, if I find a book entitled The Woman in Black and White, it would be perfect. LOL

Shades of Grey-Katherine Rowlands
try this one hahahahahhehehehe
Next on my list after I finish A Year in Provence today is one of these:Utu by Caryl Féreyl A mystery/thrille noir set in New Zeland in the Maori culture.
The Moche Warrior by Lyn Hamilton, cozy mystery/archaeology novel set in Peru
Voices by Arnaldur Indridason, mystery/thriller noir set in Iceland.
Of course, I still have Fingersmith waiting to be picked up again.
Carol, yep, Shades of Grey will fit right in with my color scheme. Ha, ha. As I love to make book lists, maybe I should start a list with titles including woman, lady, girl (needs to be a female term) and the color used with it. Maybe we could start a thread with that. Lori?

This month for my book clubs I have to read Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout and A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly. However I think I need to read something a little more mindless first to help me....
Uhm, if you want a thread to list books with woman, lady, girl... I say go for it... Would it be a game, or a book related thread????
Lori wrote: "Uhm, if you want a thread to list books with woman, lady, girl... I say go for it... Would it be a game, or a book related thread????"I'm thinking that it would be a book related thread, giving the title or titles of books with comments about the book(s) if already read. OK, I'll start a thread. I'm really curious, probably quite a few titles out there.
After I read "Rage: A Love Story" and "Shadow Kiss", my next book will be "Blood Promise", fourth book of the Vampire Academy series. After that not sure what I am going to read. We will see what I am in the mood for.
I think next up for me will either be My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult or Chopper by Mark Read.
That is if Bloodsucking Fiend by Christopher Moore doesn't arrive before i finish the book i'm currently reading, if it does that will be next on my list.

I'm reading a lot of articles for my classes so I think I'll be reading Daniel Silva's The English Assassin next as my next book to read, followed by either The Confessor or Victoria Hislop's The Return =)
After WiW I'm going to read Fatelessness by Imre Kertesz. The author won the Nobel Prize for literature in 2002 and this is his first novel. It will also count towards my 80 books in the challenge Around the World in 80 Books.

Just finished The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy...ugh, I did not enjoy it. Starting Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood today.
Starting The Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill... Next up hmmm... maybe Red Dragon by Thomas Harris but who knows... I keep changing my mind!
I just finished Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, and I am starting Why I am Not a Christian by Bertrand Russell.
After I finish Thunderer I will read the sequel, Gears of the City. After that, I have a couple graphic novels from the library to burn through. Then, I have Sense and Sensibility, and after that, Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.
I have just won my third first-reads book and wonder who else has won a first-read book. I'm excited; I love getting free books! I won Queene of Light (Lightworld/Darkworld, #1). This the first book in a fantasy series that was just released 9/29/09. It will go on my currently- reading list as soon as I receive the book.
The first book I won was The Glimmer Palace by Beatrice Colin (4 stars) and the second was Templates by Ronna Flaschner (3 stars).
Cammie wrote: "I think next I will finally start "Twilight". "Wow, you held out a long time. What made you decide to read it now?
Jessi wrote: "I just finished Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, and I am starting Why I am Not a Christian by Bertrand Russell."I've not read either, though I have read C.S. Lewis' fiction. What do you think of the 2 authors? How do they compare. I've been thinking of reading something by B. Russell, but so far nothing has made it to my
TBR list.
I just finished a reread of Somthing Wicked this Way Comes and will now go back to Woman in White. After that I will finally pick up Fatelessness by Imre Kertesz. I think it's due back at the library next week, so I need to pick up the pace!

The White Tiger is on my TBR list. Let me know what you think of it. K
I've got The Owl Killers A Novel sitting next to me on the sofa but haven't cracked it yet. I also started The Second Virgin Birth, by Goodreads author Tommy Taylor, this morning.
Well here is my supposed list for the rest of this year. Now, let's see if I can stick to it. Of course not, but I'm going to try very hard to. Numbers out to the side are what number book it is for this year, trying for 75.REST OF OCTOBER

Karen wrote: "I've not read either, though I have read C.S. Lewis' fiction. What do you think of the 2 authors? How do they compare. I've been thinking of reading something by B. I did not like either book, but for very different reasons.
Mere Christianity made statements that were racist, sexist, and homophobic. Even putting that aside, his arguments were incredibly weak. He made huge leaps of logic and it drove me crazy. I really do not understand why so many Christians seem to think this book is so profound.
Why I Am Not a Christian, on the other hand, was much more logical. However, he doesn't dwell on the subject of religion. The arguments he puts forth against a god/Christ I have heard before. I have to admit that I have heard them from more recent people, and some credit is probably due to Russell for coming up with ideas in the first place, but the point remains that it was nothing new to me, and he touched on each point very briefly when I would have liked him to explain some more. Additionally, besides the essay Why I Am Not a Christian, most of his essays were more on philosophy, which bores me to tears.
I am just about to finish Honolulu by Alan Brennert. I enjoyed it as much as I did Moloka'i by him. I hope he continues with a book about each island. Next on my list are some YA books that I am reading for a YA challenge: Just Listen by Sarah Dessen and A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly. I am also reading poetry in the form of Leaves of Grass The Original 1855 Edition by Walt Whitman
