Liz (liz_the_librarian) Apologies for being a day late on this thread. Since the library was closed yesterday, I figured I'd wait until today to open this discussion board up.

I did very poorly with my reading goals last week. I started a few new books, but have yet to finish them. I am still working on Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane and Markus Zusak's The Book Thief.

What are you reading this week?

Kim (kimau38) | 8 comments I am reading The Deep Within by relatively new author & Virginia Beach local, Dina Sleiman. It's very good & a fresh new concept for me. I'm also listening to Mere Christianity by CS Lewis...very thought provoking. And Cherry Cheesecake Murder by Fluke...just a silly story to listen to when I'm cooking. : )

message 3: by Julie (new)

Julie | 130 comments I finished A Feast for Crows over the weekend, and started The Hunger Games
.
I've been listening to The Lemon Meringue Pie Murder (Fluke) at work, and listening to Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman in the car.

I'm also slowly but surely working through "Just My Type" which is a book about the history of fonts. It's really interesting, but not really a book to read all in one sitting.

message 4: by Ann (new)

Ann (ann-fracturedfiction) | 516 comments I'm reading The Paris Vendetta by Steve Berry. I just finished And Only to Deceive by Tasha Alexander last night.

message 5: by Katie (new)

Katie Walton (libraryladykatie) | 16 comments After the End by Amy Plum... I'll read anything post apocalyptic. So far I am enjoying it a lot. I am also reading the sequel to miss. Peregrines home for peculiar children

message 6: by Kyra (new)

Kyra Hay | 41 comments I'm reading The Edge of Always by R.A. Redmerski and then listening to The Tragedy Paper in the car! They are both pretty good.

message 7: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Hurst (bookrdr) | 285 comments I am looking forward to reading in front of the fire tomorrow while the kids play in the snow. Still on Divergent.

message 8: by Pattie (new)

Pattie Babbitt You might like this one Katie! I am reading Pure by Julianna Baggott, book one of...wait for it...a trilogy. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world after detonations fused survivors to objects, other people, and the landscape. Those who were sheltered and protected inside a dome are called Pures as they do not have any of the deformities affecting those in the rest of the world. I am quite enjoying it!

I am also reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Hope to finish it today. Next on the list is Deadly Heat by Richard Castle.

Just finished it last night. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a nice length for the subject matter, and I really liked how it turned out in the end. I picked up George Saunders' The Tenth of December today because it got rave reviews at the end of 2013.

message 11: by Jennifer McGee (new)

Jennifer McGee I just finished "Turn of Mind" and I'm starting "The Book Thief".

I finished Engines of the Broken World by Jason Vanhee.... I thought it was going to be awesome but ehhhh.... I am reading Defiance by C.J. Redwine now... and This Wicked Game by Michelle Zink.... I'm not sure which one I will finish first though!

Thanks Pattie!! I tried reading Pure once but didn't get into it. Maybe I should give it another chance!

message 14: by Traci (new)

Traci (tardis1974) I finally finished World Without End, which was good but terribly long (1,100+ pages) and exhausting at times. I'm looking for something relatively short and not quite so emotionally draining to read next. Not sure what it'll be yet.

message 15: by Lanette (new)

Lanette (prvrbs31gal) I just finished the "White House Gardener" mystery trilogy... not sure what I'll be starting next. I did take out the first "China Bayles" book, but I may need a breather from 'cozy' mysteries. We'll see what catches my eye (there are piles of books waiting to be read everywhere in this house!)

message 16: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Hurst (bookrdr) | 285 comments This week, I was behind in my reading, but I stayed up until 3:00 A.M. & finished Divergent. Of course I'm paying the price today. Lol. I went straight into book three of the trilogy.

message 17: by Gwendolyn (new)

Gwendolyn | 3 comments I read Divergent last year. Loved It! I couldn't imagine skipping Insurgent though. I have Allegiant but haven't started it yet. Currently read (finally) The Fault In Our Stars by John Green.
