2014 February Pick-It-For-Me! Challenge
Sallie(Shuga) wrote: "This is for Aarati: In place of The Witness im picking for you The Next always, nora roberts..."I've read that too Sallie!
I'm not going to be able to participate this month, hope to be back in March. Have fun everyone. Happy Reading!!!!

I did much better with the bread I baked earlier that day.
Elke wrote: "Thanks so much for the awesome picks! For sure I will get to Tempted and hopefully will a get to a few more...I am actually reading The Edge of Never right now (just started it this morning) for January's PIFM."
That's so funny about Edge of Never! Great way to finish one month and start a new one in one fell swoop! I'm glad you like your picks. Looking forward to mine as well. I'll update later today after I choose my monthly challenge books and see if I can't incorporate a couple for that challenge.
Let me know how you like your reads!
Today has been an out of sorts day for me, so I've spent it reading. Finished A February Bride today, rating it three stars. Wasn't bad, but the heroine kept harping about her "family curse", which got old quick. Also read one of my Meet and Greet books and got most of the way through one of my Read the Rainbow picks. Reviews to be posted ASAP.
Hi Fran!I've finished 2 books already! Gotta love the freebie shorts! :D I read The Bird Day Battalion and The V-Day Aversion today and thought they were both cute, and just started Castle Hill. Did we ever discuss timing on our buddy read of Before Jamaica Lane?
Nichole wrote: "Hi Dee!I must admit I'm pretty nervous about these. You read quite a bit more than I do and I wasn't familiar with a lot of the authors on your shelf. Hopefully you can find something that sounds..."
hi Nicole - I just finished my first book - Hotter After Midnight since it worked for 2 other challenges - I enjoyed it and gave it 3.5 stars - it seemed more developed than many PNR now a days, but was still hot
Ty-- I just finished
and liked it. The plot is a bit over the top (does the heroine really need four alpha males sniffing after her?), but I did get caught up in the story and finished it quickly. There is lots of suspense (romantic and otherwise) and many plot twists. Thanks for the great recommendation; I'll definitely read more of this series.

I don't think so, I'm jumping in since I picked if for Fran as a buddy read too! But I already started it! I didn't get to far yesterday and probably won't get much more done today either... I didn't want to be behind no matter when we did the buddy read - it seems I always am!

I think I made the comment once - this chick must have a magical wawa to get this much masculine interest all in the space of a few weeks. Cuz, really? Alpha much?
so glad you liked it! I only read book 4. I really need to go back and read 2 and 3....
~KarenH~ wrote: "Hi Fran!I've finished 2 books already! Gotta love the freebie shorts! :D I read The Bird Day Battalion and The V-Day Aversion today and thought they were both cut..."
Wow Karen! Glad you liked them :)
Can we read Before Jamaica Lane soon? I have it out from the library and can't renew it. So any time works for me. Maybe next Monday, the 10th?
BreI decided to read
first and am so glad I did. I finished it early Sunday and loved it. I practically giggled my way through the whole book. Some parts made me laugh so hard, even when I felt guilty for it. I'm definitley going to be buying
&

If you want to wait that long we can, but I'm ready anytime!

If I can start Thursday or Friday I will. I can't get any reading done over the weekend. You can start earlier if you want Karen, and I will start as soon as I can :)
Kids home today with another snowstorm and more bad weather coming tomorrow night into Wednesday. Looks like they might lose some spring break days....

Wow, I can't believe how badly the east coast has been hit this year! Makes me feel guilty for the weather we've been having, although hearing about wildfires in western Oregon and Washington in January is just wrong! The break in the weather just in time for the Superbowl sure was considerate, though! :D
I have no problem waiting until the end of the week or first part of next week to start Before Jamaica Lane, I can easily slip something else in first. I have lots of shorter books this month, so I'm really flexible!
Hi Victoria "Trea",I just finished an earlier book to one that you recommended. I hadn't read The Pink Panther Gets Lucky, so I read that one first, and am now moving on to the one you picked for me, The Pink Panther's Just Desserts. I had forgotten how zany these books are, and this one had me laughing out loud quite a few times. Thanks for the push to read these! I'm planning on reading several more of your recs as well, so thanks again!

*Laughs* Glad you enjoyed them both!
MountainKat wrote: "Hi Fran, Here are your picks! I had lots of fun finding books, but I had a hard time finding where to put them in the rules. Hi Kat!
We had another snowstorm today but I managed to fit in a shortie while the kids were watching a bit of tv.
I read The V-Day Aversion and liked it. It was a cute follow up to The Bird Day Battalion. I totally forget that you mentioned a buddy read for it. I'm sorry! If you decide to read it this month I would love to chat about it with you when you're done :)
Not a problem Fran, I was out all day so it was good you took advantage of a little reading time while you could! I will try to get that one this month too. Heaven knows at the rate I'm going I will need some shorties to try to stay on track!!
Grace, I finished my first pick
and I enjoyed it. I love the friends-to-lovers storyline and this was an emotional story. I'll definately check the next books in the series. Thanks for the pick :)
Elizabeth, what did you just read? im in the hype of Firends-to-lovers at the moment after reading Better of Friends. :)
Apretty5 wrote: "oohh.. just saw the link. and ive read it already. :) any other books of the same kind?"Playing for Keeps is a fun read
Elizabeth, finished my first PIFM -
fun read, heroine a bit immature and sligggghtly TSTL, but the alpha male reminded me of Kristen Ashley's a bit, so not bad at all. :)

I hope you'll enjoy the next one more (if you choose to read another, that is) :)
Hi Fran! I finished Castle Hill a few days ago, and loved it! I forget in between books just how much I love Samantha Young's writing style. I started An Intrepid Trip to Love this evening (didn't get far though), and as soon as I finish that I'll be reading Before Jamaica Lane for our buddy read...probably starting that sometime over the weekend.
Hi Penney! I just finished
and loved it very much! One of the older Nora Roberts series and looks really promising. I loved the Quinn brothers and looking forward to read Ethan's book. Thanks for the rec!

Joyce, I finished my first pick
and I really liked it. I was surprised by what a great sci-fi book it was. It was a little bit of a bittersweet ending but was realistic. Well... as realistic as this book could get.
Hey Sallie, I finished reading
. I liked it, but it wasn't great. Loved the chemistry between Alexia and Maccon. Loved Lord Akeldama too. What a character!I'm almost done with
too. Will probably read
too!
February 2014 PIFM Challenge - picked by ElkeElke - I've read these so far - they were both kinda cute.
♥ Teddy Bear :
✔★Girl with the Cat Tattoo - Theresa Weir - DONE - 02.05 - ★★★
♥♥ Chocolate & card :
✔★That Boy - Jillian Dodd - DONE - 02.08 - ★★★
I didn't like
as much as I thought I would. I liked the cat's POV but the romance was sort of meh, actually.
was better for me - closer to YA I think than to NA. It made me cry at one point - even though you knew things were going to be okay, I still felt the emotions of the moment which is a sign of a really good author, I think. It was quite an enjoyable read and I'll probably read the rest of the series. I'm going for
and
next!!
Ty-- I just finished
today and liked it. The setting in Egypt among the treasure hunters was fun. Thanks for the recommendation.

I liked
better than the Girl with the Cat Tattoo; I'd recommend it if you like angsty romances.
Carla_Collette wrote: "Ty-- I just finished

Great job in reading them..hope you enjoy the next two!! I haven't even started one of my picks yet! Lol!! It is next on my list! :D
Joyce, I finished another pick. An Intrepid Trip to Love was just so good. It was funny and cute and adorable. I just loved it. Thanks for the pick!
Daffodil-I finished my first book Twelve Days What a tearjerker. Solid 3 1/2 stars (can't give more to people who wallow) Added the next ones to my TBR. Thanks for the rec. Hope to read some more and with snow coming….just might get the chance!
Just finished Baby, Be Mine. Was a pretty sweet story, and I rated it 4 stars. Had a little bit of a problem with the heroine, but overall liked it much better than the other books in the series!
Laurla, Finished my first pick
!! Not sure if I can get to another one though. But thanks again for the picks!!!
I just finished Easy. This book struck close to home for me, but kept me well entertained throughout it. I'm not sure I would own a copy or re-read it, but I definitely enjoyed reading it once. Thanks for the recommendation!
Ty--I just finished my third PIFM book this month,
. The romance seemed dated (it was originally written in the 1980's or something), but I liked all the research that Deveraux obviously put into the Elizabethan period and the realistic way that she wrote about it. Thanks for the recommendation.
Finished my pick for this month
It was an amazing story.. kept me hooked the whole time. Loved all the characters and plot very much.. Looking forward to more books by this author. Thanks for the great pick MountainKat :)
