But it's Martin here, so children get their "weckmann" and the baker in a neighbour village experimented with new stollens for the season and came up with two new varieties: stollen with malt beer (very yummy) and stollen with grappa and cranberries (very ... interesting). :-)

It isn't? They put the Christmas illuminations in my street Friday.

It came up 2 weeks ago here, I'm always sick of Christmas before we even get to December

Rectification, I noticed it Friday (Full Sherlock mode -> "There is something weird..."). :P
Nooo I want the Christmas market, and especially the little house/stall that sells crepes and hot chocolate! (or spiced wine) Smells. So. Good.

It must be an epidemy, they put it up also here already end of October. They haven't lit it yet though.

And St. Martin around here means feasting on geese... not that I had one. *sigh*

That sure is early!
I know there's a debate every year about opening the Christmas markets earlier (because trade wants to make more money). They didn't get there yet.

Is St. Martin the guy who hid among the geese and they gave him away?
We call him Morten and for some reason we eat duck

Yep, that's him and the geese are eaten because they gave him away.

Well, geese make sense, but duck? Oh well, they're tasty and we only eat them twice a year (in my family) next up is the Christmas dinner

*Now where did I put that Kindle?*
