The Best Thing About Today...

Wow, one year is a very long time! I'm glad for you both.
PS: I can't follow the link, but maybe it's only me.

So happy for all of you! These times together are priceless.

It was a wonderful gay film: «Futur Drei» / No Hard Feelings which won the Teddy Award as Best Queer Film at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Congratulations! Very fun!

It turns out that the shut off valve to my house doesn't shut off the water supply to my hot water heater (no, I can't explain it either), so I had to get someone in from the city emergency crew to shut off my water at the meter so the plumber could repair the water heater.
Once the hot water heater was fixed, the city refused to come back to turn the water on (it was after 11:00PM).
So, I'm waiting impatiently for the city to turn the water back on, with piles of soaked towels I used to clean up the water.
So why is this good news?
I was supposed to leave on Monday (May 17) to drive north for the summer. We pushed it off a week (May 24) because of the gas crisis caused by the pipeline shutdown. I can't imagine what would have happened had the water heater gone kablooey after I had left. I have someone coming in to check the house once a week, but water could have been pouring out for days.

Well, I'm glad you were there when it happened. And that this won't probably interfere with your holiday.
I had the same problem two (?) years ago and I had to get rid of 400 l water in the basement, after I turned off the water.

Wow. I'm so sorry, but I'm glad it happened while you were home! Time for a vacation?

Oh wow, what an awful situation. Thankfully you were there to deal with the situation! Is everything under control by now? Are you able to leave tomorrow? Have a safe drive when it happens!

Yes, yes, and thank you!

Today though I saw for the first time in my life a doe with a fawn. It was striped (!?) and tiny. A woman also observing them from the bridge told me that she saw two fawns yesterday. I hope that both are alright.

The best thing about today?
It's just a quiet, ordinary, productive day. I want to remember to be grateful for all the quiet, ordinary, productive days -- it's too easy to take them for granted. :-)

This is a quiet, productive day for me too! It's my last day working from home, and working from home is what makes today awesome.

:-D But yeah. Having to readjust to dealing with people face-to-face... I'm not sure if I remember how to do that!

LOL. For me, now, it's relearning how to search the library catalog for what's currently in the building, because I've not needed to know how to do that for 1.5 years! Our department has been going back one day a week since January to answer the odd in-person questions/put books on hold for patrons. But our desk was not that popular. Most folks just wanted to pick up their holds and go home.

If you consider that in 2020 I spent some 2500 dollars for several check ups of the academic medicine without finding anything, I'm very happy that now a health practitioner found out this.
She gave me some natural remedies which - together with a diet - should help me to get rid in 6 weeks of the problem I had for the last one year and a half.
By the way most people have some candida in their body, but the overgrowth gives symptoms like fatigue, abdominal pain, bloating, etc.
I suppose that I could see as positive also the fact that I'll have to avoid sugar for six weeks. I'm counting the days! ;-)

I didn't feel alright , even though it wasn't something major.
Eliminating sweets from my diet would have been unthinkable till 5 minutes before the health practitioner told me that the fungus/yeast (I still have to understand what it is exactly) feeds off sugar ;-). It is hard, but I'm going to stay strong.
By the way my intense sweet cravings were also coming from the candida.

That all sounds about right. As a nutritionist, my mom talked about Candida a lot. Not that I understood it much, or paid that much attention to it. lol. I will say though, for me personally, getting acupuncture has been amazing in helping with gut/digestive issues, and where I used to crave pasta all the time, I no longer do! I've also managed to cut down some on my sugar intake with fewer cravings. So it can be done. It just takes time and dedication. :-)

Congratulations, Antonella. I'm glad you finally got some answers. Good luck to you as you sort out your guts! :) My mom had a candida problem maybe twenty years ago and the diet changes "fixed" it, though it has come back a couple of times over the years. She's always tweaking her diet. Also, "traditional" western doctors were unable to find anything wrong with her, as in your case. It took a different sort of doctor to figure it out. There are a lot of good books out there about candida and gut health as well as experts online with a lot of good information. I wish you strength and good health as you make these changes. You can do it! Hugs! :)

I'm glad that also the second fawn is well."
How sweet. Very exciting! :)
We have tiny baby quails at our house. They get bigger every day.

Thank you for telling me this!
12 days of diet and some natural remedies and I already have one symptom less or maybe even two, because I don't have anymore sugar cravings.
Got to see friends I haven’t seen in forever today which included seeing my friend’s new house and her one-year-old cats!

That's great. Enjoy yourselves!

I had caught a glimpse of it once, but now I decided to open the window: it wasn't one, it was *four* stone (beech) martens!
And they didn't run away. I suppose they are still at the puppy stage, because they were relatively small and they kept pushing away the one who was eating so they could take turns, like young animals do.
I suspect I should take away the seeds, but they are so cute...

Yes, amazing wasn’t it!

Not that I don't love my hammock, but it's sometimes a little more difficult to get in to (and out of!) than I'm in the mood for. And, of course, only one person can use it at a time.
Not that I'll be able to enjoy it much during this weather.
Technically, it's supposed to be over 90°F (32°C) for three days in a row to be considered a "heat wave" here on the East Coast of the U.S., and I don't think we've hit that yet. But my problem is that it just isn't cooling down at night; it was still 80°F (27°C) at 5:00 this morning.
Of course, Kansas City was worse; there was barely a day in July that was under 90°F in July. And Albuquerque was technically hotter, but it was much more comfortable ("it's not the heat; it's the humidity" is an absolute truth).

The best thing about today?
A sudden drop in temperature. It was so cool and breezy last night I was able to leave the windows open. Today was a mild 80-something. Gorgeous.
And it's supposed to remain coolish until next Wednesday. Not that I believe that. Not after an entire summer of triple digit days and nights.
