I’m reading in the Ray Bradbury Read-A-Thon, and my rehearsal went relatively well this morning. Final recording is on Monday and I have lots of practice to do between now and then, but the director gave me minimal corrections, so that’s good. :-) it’s fun, but I can’t wait until it’s over!

Whew! Congratulations, Loretta!

I googled this for more info, but only came up with one in Pasadena — I bet Adrien with an "e" knows about that. ;) Tell us more!

That's great! Enjoy yourself!
Apparently it is the same all over the globe. A title of the main economics newspaper in Italy today was about bookkeepers & accountants (I keep forgetting the difference, also in Italian) panicking because there are something like 250 different tax deadlines till end of July.

It’s all prerecorded, edited together, and then it will be shown online on August 22nd!

Oooh, I love Ray Bradbury. What are you reading?
We’re reading Fahrenheit 451. My section starts on page 50 something, so I’m near the beginning. I get to read the section where Captain Beatty lectures Montag about burning books. Lol.

Sounds great. It's been 40 years since I've read it. I should read it again.

Me too. It's actually one of my least favorites of Bradbury's, possibly even a DNF, but I think I was too young for it the first time around.

- I showed off my rainbow face mask to my hairdresser (a face mask is needed if you go and cut your hair), and she immediately showed me on her phone the opening of the concert of a local punk rock band with a giant rainbow flag and the statement that they don't want any kind of racists at their concerts;
- I saw a cute couple of 20ish young men holding hands;
- I saw another two persons, a young man (I think) and a girl chatting animatedly, just he was wearing a pleated skirt ;-)

Well, when the video comes out next month, you'll have a unique opportunity to listen to it. I have a feeling it might not be posted for long.

I like it, but it wasn't ever one of my favorites. The Fall of the House of Usher II is my favorite of Bradbury's, from The Martian Chronicles. It made it fun having read those classics in school previous to this one, even though I did not enjoy reading them at the time. lol.

Congratulations! I'll bet this was a particularly trying season.
We did our taxes on-line, but still had to drive down to sign everything. Usually, whether the news is good or bad, we would stop on the drive home to have lunch and celebrate the worst chore of the year being over. :-D This year we did Door Dash and I made cocktails.

The best thing about today...
Honestly, there are many good things about today, and I've been trying to remember and focus on that. I went through about two fairly grim weeks where I just couldn't seem to focus on anything but all the very bad news.
But I think I'm past that, at least for now.
So the best thing about today is feeling more energetic and upbeat again.

YAY!!! That is good news!

The best thing about today was that my meeting at work went well. I wasn't sure what to expect, when it's a check in with you and the boss and the boss's boss, you know? but it was good.

Lots of positive things, great for you!

Sounds like a hell of a week, indeed. Glad everything's working again. :)
Dropping in to chat.
Also the knowledge that we will have Chinese food for dinner and cocktails of some kind--probably mai tais--and watch something fun on TV.
Life goes on.

We also cooked a nice dinner together, had the windows open because it was cool and nice and not so smoky today, and also had lots of kitty cuddles. A very pleasant Sunday.

I often tell people that with my freelance job I can take a day free almost whenever I want, but then I seldom do it ;-)

*sighs* only four more years to the next UK election."
I'm so pleased. Labour doesn't even need a coalition to govern, and it's been decades since that happened. They won an outright majority, which is very rare, so they likely don't have to compromise much on anything. NZ is a very politically progressive country anyway, but a popular Labour-only government will likely make it even more so.

Once more I'm glad to live in Switzerland: I waited only 20 hours between my phone call to the doctor and the result.
I was told that I should take a test. I thought that a light temperature and a light sore throat were a side effect of my vanity: I went to an event by bike with a skirt, even though the weather is not so mild anymore.

I'm relieved, because even though to me this looked like a normal cold, perfectly explainable with exposing my legs to the chilly weather, both my health insurance and my doctor insisted that in the actual situation a test was absolutely necessary. So I had started to have doubts...

Oh well, maybe I can break away when I finish The Hell You Say.

Uh huh. Because that's the perfect place to stop, right? :D
Kidding. Good luck and enjoy! :)

I just started re-listening to Fatal Shadows last night and plan to continue with the full series, my 20th Anniversary homage. :)

Honestly, Sam, this probably means you NEED this AE break from other stresses in your life right now. Lol. Enjoy!
I relistened to one or two of them back in like February? But I really need to do them all from the beginning sometime soon.

Picked up a brand new laptop from work today that includes access to all of my departments files! Super excited! And got permission from my supervisor to clean out all the old junk that’s been bothering me for years. Why do we have files from people who haven’t worked for us in years?! Finally! I do love organizing things like this. :-)

hehe...

I saw an article or heard on the radio about someone with a trump sign they’d lined in razor blades, so when a city worker came along to remove it for being too close to the sidewalk, he ended up needing stitches. The owner was like, “I don’t know how those got there! But I’ve had my signs stolen before...” yeah, right.

Same as Myrtle Beach, SC boarding up and Cancelling school bc the Democrats will riot O_o All I am seeing is Cheetoh fans being the bad ones or following there leader blindingly

I didn't tell you, but I was quite sad as my cat died one week ago. The house seemed empty. So I decided to adopt a rescue cat. I hope that we will be a good match.
Now for the confession: I obviously wanted to name him after my favorite characters, but with a short name. In the end Vic (like Victor Baynes from PsyCop) seemed the best for a black cat. Sorry, Adrien and Jake!
