The best thing about today... so far... the new morning radio DJ taking over seems like a good guy I can listen to. :-)

Oh, and the other best thing is that at some point today, I should be finishing Footsteps in the Dark!!!

message 12502: by Katie (new)

Katie (chemegeek) | 35 comments The best thing about today is...it’s the last day of work before a week of vacation. I haven’t taken time off since Christmas due to a large project I’ve been leading, so I’m pretty excited to unplug (well, from work at least) for awhile.
Also, is there anything better than the anticipation of an eagerly awaited trip? Even if said anticipation can’t be enjoyed since I’ll be frantically packing tonight. 😄

Where are you going for your vacation? Enjoy!

Katie (chemegeek) | 35 comments Thanks everyone! We go every year with family and friends to a lake resort way up in the woods (about an hour south of the Canadian border). It’s a fun week of swimming, boating, fishing, reading, and hanging out with family and friends who we don’t get to see that often due to geographical distance. I’ve also packed three bottles of wine so that won’t hurt, either. 😉

Oh, that sounds wonderful! I love everything about this. :-) (You won't mind if I stowaway in your suitcase, will you?)

Katie (chemegeek) | 35 comments Jordan - I think after listening to my overly-excited kids for an hour in the car you would be like “let me off at the next exit!!” 😂 I told my husband (after only a couple of hours in the car) that I either needed a Xanax or a flask of whiskey.

Lol, ok.

I was always a quiet one in the car, and an only child. :-)

Hopefully the trip improves!

The best thing about the past two days was my birthday, which allowed me to eat ice cream. And two days of staying home, watching tv, and reading.

The best thing about today... I get to go home at 5pm, in 10 minutes. :-) This is Day One of Seven. :-(

I'm late, but buon compleanno!

And I didn't catch exactly the connection between ice cream and birthday. You can eat ice cream one a year?

I've been eating ice cream all week, to celebrate Jordan's birthday.

It has no gluten in it, so therefore, I can sorta have it. Though I was reminded by my doctor yesterday to not eat so much sugar. ugh. Well, to keep it plant-based. Good enough, I guess. Except when it's my birthday. lol.

Carp are indeed really beautiful. Lucky you to have two at your house! I hope your upgraded pond works out well for them.

I think my most beautiful fish are tuna, any sort. Of course, I've never seen them in the wild, but even in captivity, they are stunning--so fast and powerful and shiny and really exciting to watch. I'm vegetarian (because I can't stand eating beautiful animals), but my husband is not and he doesn't eat tuna anymore because they are so cool.

SamSpayedPI | 596 comments It's a dreary day today; one of those days when it never stops raining. Usually we get a break here and there for ten or 20 minutes to take the dogs out, but not today!

But TBTAT is that every robin in Lewes, apparently, decided to take a bird-bath in the pot-holes in the road in front of my house this morning. SO there's at least one perk to a rainy day and a city that's recalcitrant in its road repair.

Loving this post, Sam. :-)

We woke up to a snowy scenery this morning. The first snow had fallen overnight. It will melt away at some point, no doubt, but it still took us by surprise. It's difficult to get used to icy, slippery ground this suddenly! The one perk to our day was the fact that while it was unexpectedly wintery we at least didn't have to do the raking we had planned for today. Yay! :-D

We had two nights of temps dropping enough to freeze (saved some of our garden with season-extender covering), then back to the mostly glorious October weather we enjoy here. The weather was particularly well-behaved for the GRL Retreat here this week. Now the wind is picking up, hinting at changes to come...
