Violence

Came home to cops with lights flashing, the restaurant downstairs closed with lights off but not cleaned up, and news vans in my parking lot. Finally figured out that a teenage girl got shot this afternoon and was immediately followed by a car accident that may or may not have been related. I guess the investigation is ongoing.

Too much violence in my neighborhood!

Terrible! I hope that this is not getting routine in your neighbourhood...

Will you fly down there?

It seems to be more routine than in the past according to comments in the news by residents who’ve been here longer. Only a few weeks ago I saw the candles out for the teenage boy who was killed the year I moved here. Just a few weeks before Thanksgiving.

Yeah. Scary is right.

Anne | 6816 comments Joy!

My grandson was born last night! He is healthy and lovely and the parents proud and exhausted. It was a long labour and the doctor needed to use the forceps in the end. But both the baby and mum is fine. Dad and grandma are not so bad either😊.

I will travel and visit but not quite yet, the new family needs to figure things out themselves first so they decide. But I have flexible tickets and fly out as soon they ask.

You've certainly been to both extremes recently and that's intense. You can remember your father and rejoice in your grandson. More hugs, my dear.

I'm so happy for you, dear Anna! Many, many congratulations! And good wishes for the little one and his mom and dad. :-)

I always liked the thought (my Mum told me that when I was little) that the soul of the one who died will be there for the next child born to their family to protect it and give it strength and live on a little bit that way. Many hugs for you, my dear!

Yes, very much so. Thankfully, nothing has happened when my parents are here because the last thing I want is to alarm my mother. But it's come very close.
