LOL! I was already jumping to amazon, but luckily I finished reading your sentence ;-)

It was the first thing I saw when I logged in and I was about to one-click so fast but then saw the 'will be available in December' thing and I screamed so loud my cat got mad at me.

What with GRL (and houseguests) in the middle of October and Thanksgiving in November, a December release is already pushing it. Thank God the book is half-written! :-D

:-D In fairness, no one is charged until the book goes live, so it's not like funds are tied up. It's just a way of making sure you don't miss the release (which somehow I'm thinking you won't!)

I couldn't care less about the charge... It's that we still have to wait but as bae told me, 'You were already waiting. Wait some more.'

Can anyone recommend for me some m/m horror novels (or stories) (aside from Josh's, with which I'm already quite familiar).
Winter is on the plate for this Halloween, along with Something Wicked This Way Comes and some Shirley Jackson, but I'd love something I haven't read before. I'm hoping Seance will be released in time, but if not . . .

My creepy two cents:
Two creepy and dark-ish books that come to mind are JK Pendragon's To Summon Nightmares and Brooklyn Ray's Darkling.
Two genuinely creepy ghost stories, both by Amy Rae Durreson, are A Frost of Cares and Spindrift.
A a delightfully creepy Gothic mystery romance is The Master of Seacliff by Max Pierce.
And you can't go wrong with KJ Charles--The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal is mighty creepy.
I'm not sure any of them would truly be considered horror (they are all romances, after all), but they are all definitely spooky and queer and very Halloween-appropriate.

I have Darkling already (thanks to a $0.99 Amazon sale; thanks, Rachel!), so that's probably the first up. (I've already read all of KJ Charles's paranormals, along with many of her regular historicals).
I'm currently moving those two Amy Rae Durreson books on the top of my to-read list. Thanks, everyone!

Enjoy! She writes excellent ghost stories. She's one of my favourites, so I think she writes excellent everything, but she's definitely good at writing creepy ghost stories.
Pretty much anything, or most, of Jordan Castillo Price’s works fit this!
Also Anna Black, I think, is the author of Patient Z, about zombies that I really liked.

What I said in response to Alison.
Stress.
That's been my entire week. Finally caught up (I think) on most of the stuff I needed to get done for work today. Now, it's just up to the stuff I need to complete at home in time for November!

And it's a good word: I was dreading the dentist appointment today, but my new dentist is very nice and fixed a cavity under a filling avoiding an injection and without hurting me.
The dentist who had taken the place of my now pensioned dentist had meant a new filling is necessary to treat that cavity, there is another cavity, and I should extract a tooth which is a bit crooked. She also hurt me for 15 minutes doing the standard dental cleaning, which had never hurt before and never produced that amount of bleeding from my gums: my mouth ached till the evening! That's why I decided to find a new dentist.

Thanks! I certainly needed it!

Parade.
I'm not in the mood for a parade today. Nor do I care for the reason for it. But, I'm kind of trapped here at work. So many people are going to be asking for the bathroom and nothing else. And the local radio station just started broadcasting very loud not far away. Someone save me. Please.

So true. I had an amazing dentist years ago, who was both incredibly good and with a light touch, making it an experience not to be dreaded, but then he "retired" to do research... *sigh* Eventually I found the one I have now, and she's been okay/good so far.

I love voting! :)"
Well done!
The whole world is following this election with bated breath. Let's hope for the best!

Trying to be hopeful. :)
Every Election Day in America matters, but it kind of feels like this one matters a little bit more than some others.

Yes. Not least because I fear if we can't take back some measure of legislative control, the gerrymandering will continue and it will be all but impossible to wrest the GOP's stranglehold from our collective neck.

Frustrated...
...by people who don’t know what they’re doing when they set up events for NaNoWriMo, don’t follow instructions, and then complain when things don’t work out. And then I have to explain things. Ugh.
This does not include my coworker who wasn’t paying attention during the chopsticks demonstration at dinner last night. That was rather funny, actually. 😂

Oh wow! We're still waiting for our first snow. It's been unusually warm for this time of year.

Lol, sorry for the confusion! My coworkers and I went out to dinner then to a show called Potted Potter at the theater, completely unrelated to NaNoWriMo, even though that one coworker is participating in Nano this year, or so she tells me. Lol.
So the official NaNoWriMo event happens every November. The goal is to write 50K in the month. The world is split up into regions based on real life geography, and volunteers known as Municipal Liaisons (that would be me!) organize events called Write-Ins. These can be held in restaurants, coffee shops, libraries, apparently in Ikea too. People come together and write their novels in the same room. We hold kick off parties prior to November, and Thank Goodness Its Over parties in December. On the website, they have a ton of forums where you can chat with people about your genre, your cats, whatever is going wrong, or right, with your novel. There is also a section of the forums that’s dedicated to the regions, where each ML is the moderator and they can send region-wide emails, and post event details and other things. As an example, my co-ML and I are in charge of the Boston region, which encompasses Cambridge and the immediate surrounding towns. You don’t have to attend events if you don’t want to, but in certain regions, I think you’d be missing out if you skipped them!
Then they have what’s known as Camp NaNoWriMo. You can create your own goal here, and it takes place, I think, in April and July. They have a different website where you can elect to share virtual cabins with up to five other people. You get one central forum like thread for your cabin where all of your communication with your cabin mates takes place. There are no MLs and no real life meetups, unless you want that and know local people who want to join you.
I’ve tried Camp before a couple of times, but it’s never really worked for me. The November event is awesome and a ton of fun.

Congratulations! First snow is special. I had the first tiny dusting of snow this morning at my house. Exciting! Gorgeous weather this week. Crisp and sparkling.

It is and marks the time to bring out the bird feeders. Dad always waits until the first snow to put out the feeders.

For my grandchild who is now ten days past due day. He apparently is having it far too good inside his mum to bother being born :)
