I guess that is the word for me these days, which is rare, I am usually a balanced person.
But right now, my aging, dement father is sick and getting weaker and more confused day by day..."
I'm sorry to hear this. I hope the joy for the grandson will help you.

Oh, that is definitely a thing. Hope it goes away soon!

That's such a great word! I love the sound of it.

It gives me the creeps; I can't disconnect it from something crawling to the surface of a dark Scottish loch, many miles away.
Happy.
My morning writing class went really well. We're at the halfway point now, and we had 13 people attend, which is great! Everyone seemed to be having a good time, and several made comments about how much they were getting out of the class and how much they were enjoying it, which made me really happy. I also appreciate that several students have returned. One had already taken this course last year, and a couple of others started with the World-Building course back in February. It says something about the formatting of the classes and the other students that they are coming back for more. :-)

Congratulations!

Sam! I was going to post that! Thanks for doing it. Man, I love that song. :)
I hadn't seen the video before--it's awesome! Baby Sting is so fierce!
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes...

Nice! Well done. :)

Happy Birthday! I remember now that you're a few days after me. Have a great day, my friend! :)

Happy, happy, joy, joy!"
Big smile at that - it's a quote from Rob in my beloved Winter Kill.
Thanks everyone."
Actually, I should amend that. I'd forgotten it was in Winter Kill. I remember it from a cartoon show called Ren & Stimpy. And I just looked up the origins of it, out of curiosity. Looks like the cartoon show was where it came from originally. But, the meaning is actually not a happy one as I had thought. Ren & Stimpy was on when I was a kid, so I'd forgotten the true meaning. The Urban Dictionary says it means those times when the world expects you to be happy, when you're anything but happy, so you "put on a mask of happy happy joy joy while singing a silly song."
Um... wow. Not what I remembered at all. But it does sorta make sense, I guess.
So, on that note: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope it's a good one!
Happy, happy, joy, joy!"

I remember Ren and Stimpy being a little on the grim side. It was a very unusual program.
Here's the song:

That's terrific!

My second nephew was born yesterday in New Zealand. How exciting! I am now an eccentric relative to *two* excellent young people. Hopefully I can meet this youngster before too many years go by. His brother was one when we moved, so I got to spend a bit of time with him before we left town, but I'm not sure when I'll get to meet the new baby. Regardless, it's super exciting news. :)

Ahh. How lovely. I think it is we eccentrics who in the end have surprising and unexpected impact on our little kinfolk.
