There's a tax deduction for these, right? ;-)

Actually, these are for those days when you face plant on the keyboard. While your fingers are unable to type, your eyelashes can do the work for them!

AdventuresInEmail

Work just upgraded the webmail we've been using for 10+ years and no one's happy about it. It's taking forever to relearn old tricks. However, I love the new feature that doesn't let me forget an attachment when I've specified that I have attached something in an email and then haven't done so. So creepy, and yet, so useful!

The good thing about this, is that it has our office laughing a lot over the craziness. :-D

Right?! I tried it out, wrote a fake email to my supervisor, wrote that I was attaching a document that was "Very Important", and hit send. A window popped up and asked me if I'd forgotten to attached a document. It was hilarious. Creepy. But, wow, so amazingly useful. I bet millions of people do this every day!

Once a year we have a jazz/blues music festival. Lots of people, so sometimes I just avoid town. This year I went and I had fun with a friend in a very relaxed way, moving from one place to the other following the music. We even stopped in between for an hour to see a street theater.

hahaha

I had a mixed experience with the eyelashes. The lady who did them was maybe not the best possible choice. She didn't clean my eyelids first, didn't ask me what size lashes I wanted, didn't give really any care instructions (and the instructions she gave were contrary to everything I've ever read: for example, don't bother washing!). Plus I had a bit of a reaction.

Most of the lashes on my right eye fell out over the next two days although I followed all the directions I did get, to the letter. Plus she had glued them in clumps, so they were too heavy for my real lashes (which are naturally long, so I probably should have left well enough alone) and I lost a bunch of real lashes too.

While they were on, they looked great!

I was ordering a new “online custom made shampoo & conditioner”, which you answer a few questions about your hair and what “goals” you want to achieve, so they make the perfect shampoo for you.

Anyway you can also choose the colour of the shampoo and “name” the bottle etc - then I suddenly had to come up with some favourite words... my usual favourite word is Melancholy, but that’s sort of weird for hair products, maybe? So I settled for “Solitude”.

You are so brave! I don’t have naturally long eyelashes, I just bought a eyelash growing serum - it actually works in under 2 weeks! Granted, it’s not as dramatic as extensions, but it does make a difference and enhance the effect of mascara.

There are many brands, the one I used is this one called “Luxe Lash Advanced eyelash enhancer serum:

https://eyelash-growth.co.uk/luxe-las...

It’s from Germany (so it claims!)

Just use it like you put on eyeliners every night. Seems relatively low-risk :-)

They are mixing my bottles in a lab NYC at the moment, sounds scientific, right? :-D

Swimming.

I just got my drivers license in the mail on Monday. Just in time for a road trip with Adrien to avoid the fireworks in my neighborhood. So I’m home with my parents until tomorrow. Today we went swimming at the town pool. With the temperature in the high 90’s the water was perfect. But I grew up swimming in that pool with my best friend so anytime I go back there now, it doesn’t feel right because she’s not there with me. And then I think of all my cousins. We grew up spending summers on a lake in New Hampshire. So, if my best friend isn’t in the water with me, surely my cousins are, right? Nope. Just me, my mom, and a bunch of people I don’t know. It was still fun and refreshing, but not the same as when I was a kid.

My Mom had to "force" me to go. lol. I'm a lazy bum these days and after showering and getting dressed, I didn't want to bother doing all that again. But it was still fun. lol.

Antonella | 11570 comments Sadness

On Tuesday I found out that another friend died in a glider accident on Sunday. And today I went to a small town nearby to my osteopath and I went for the first time after years to the place where once the house of my former husband's parents stood. They built a modern ugly building there. So I started to brood over transiency...

NB: I'm not devastated, just a bit sad.

Passports

My co-Municipal Liaison for NaNoWriMo and I had a meeting yesterday to discuss many things, and while discussing things, we came up with a brilliant idea for our participants to have passports, which will eliminate our name tags, and the need to sign in to every event, and give them more ways to participate! OMG, we're psyched about this! Also contemplating buying a button machine to make nano buttons. :-)

Antonella | 11570 comments Endoftheworld

The end of the world is nigh.

I've just killed an Asian tiger mosquito at home, that is at 700 m, north of the Alps!

Curiosity: they came to Europe mainly through the transport of goods.

SamSpayedPI | 596 comments Sweeeeet!

I must have forgotten to stir my tea - I drained my cup and got a mouthful of sugar sludge!

Oh, well, I suppose there are worse ways to start one's morning.

message 11839: by Antonella (new)

Antonella | 11570 comments Mymymble wrote: "That is one scary looking bug. Dangerous too (I'd never heard of them). You performed a public service there."

I knew them from Italy, where they are spreading. Friends of mine bought a flat north-east of Milano, exactly because the area was mosquito free, and in the meantime the mosquitos arrived also there.

I don't think that the tiger mosquito is dangerous in Europe, because the viruses that it transmits in Asia are not common in Europe.

But I can guarantee that the bite is worse than the bite of her native sister, it hurts longer.
