Similar to a fox, only very strong.

It’s even worse when your dog gets sprayed by one! I think this happened about 2-3 times in my family’s dog history.

And in college, I had a roommate who loved the smell enough to keep the windows open when a skunk sprayed nearby. I slept on the couch in the common room that night!

It is an acquired smell ;)

LOL!

But I'm totally curious about this, because I have seen skunks only in cartoons or YouTube videos.

Do you live in a rural area? And do the skunks just come into the house if you leave the window open? Why? Is that normal? Thank you in advance if you feel like explaining.

There are squirrels on the trees in front of my back garden, and it is very quiet there, but the squirrels would never come near the house, let alone inside.

Well, I recently heard a joke about a skunk entering into someone's house.

I mean, some people say snakes enter their houses if they live in an environment that supports snakes.

I've not had skunks ever enter a house. They're usually outside at night, but if dogs think to go investigate, a skunk might spray them.

Here, I found this site that might help you learn more about skunks: https://www.animalcontrolsolutions.co...

The smell is strong enough that it can stink up your house if the skunk sprays nearby; the skunk doesn't have to actually come into the house (of course, if your dog is running loose, it will spray the dog and your dog will come inside).

I do live outside the city limits. The skunk didn't come inside, thank goodness. It was just the smell where it sprayed outside the window. We have a lot of skunks around the area. There's always some run over on the road. They like to hide in the irrigation gates.

Once when my son was little, there was skunk wandering between him and the open garage door. I didn't want it to get inside, so I closed the door. It left my poor boy trapped outside with the skunk. He gave me such a look of betrayal. I ran as fast as I could through the house and out the front door to call him over so he could come in that way. He was pretty freaked. I think he still doesn't trust me, but it was pretty funny. At least to me :)

It is very early days yet, so I’m not allowed to tell anybody yet, but you won’t tell her I did, I guess :)

My daughter is pregnant, if all goes well, I will be a grandmother later this year. It is a small bubble of happiness deep inside me. I know things may happen, but still. They have tried for a while, I know how happy she and her fiance are. An everyday occurence of course, but also a miracle.

No, not an everyday occurrence at all, it is a miracle.
Exactly like it is a miracle to see the children start speaking and reading.

Congratulations to you and your daughter!

The actual quote (Beware the Ides of March) is from Shakespeare's tragedy Julius Caesar (1599). The warning is uttered by a soothsayer who is letting Roman leader Julius Caesar know that his life is in danger, and he should probably stay home and be careful when March 15th, the Ides of March, rolls around.

Yeah, I was just wondering if you had picked a particular Gaius Julius in our midst to address that warning to.

We thought it was all right. But she should have showed it to a lawyer, because the formulation was clear only for us, knowing what she wanted...
