I love this decision of yours to consciously choose yes every time you can.
I've made a much smaller commitment... to choose to eat and cook different--healthier and more interesting--things. It sounds silly but I'm in such a rut and I frequently choose fast (unhealthy) or boring (no real satisfaction) foods. So I am trying a whole bunch of new smoothie and salad recipes this week.
Results have been mixed. :-D
I learned today that truffle oil is an acquired taste -- and I have not yet acquired it. :-D

Mindful
I am trying to be conscious of, well, if I say "everything" it sounds overwhelming even to me, but I am trying to be aware of what is going on with me, particularly in the choices I make when it comes to food and exercise.
I feel like I am only really alive in the summer, and that I spend most of the winter planning for summer or finding ways to coax myself through winter.

Had to deal with a difficult patron earlier today that was a very unpleasant experience. You know it's bad when one of the custodians had to come over and ask if I was alright.

Sorry to hear that, Jordan, but at least there's a Boston cream cupcake, right? *hugs*

That's disturbing! It sounds like the situation certainly called for a Boston cream cupcake!

This is something also I've promised myself to do. This week was a mix of success and failure. But I will not give up. I'll keep concentrating on making those healthy choices and "being conscious of everything, being aware of what is going on with me", like you said.
And oh boy, do I agree with you about the winter/summer thing!

Because it is extremely difficult to change the habits of a lifetime.
But also contemporary urban life is not structured to be laid back and low stress. Everything in society is geared to high speed and now, now, now. If we don't react instantly, we are in danger of being accused of "ignoring" something.

I just got a personal message on the NaNoWriMo website, which does not email you when someone sends you a message. The only way you know, is if you're signed in. I make it clear in my profile that I am not good at checking my NaNoMail, especially if it's outside of the NaNo season. Anyway, this person was trying to stop the mass emails he was getting, and was having trouble, so he mailed me. But the funny part was the last line, which read, "don't ignore this message!" Like I'm intentionally ignoring him. He's lucky i logged in to do something else... ironically, to send out a mass email. :-)

I guess this is true.
Sometimes I think it would be lovely to live an idyllic life in the countryside, with little stress, few people and a garden. And then immediately I think: Boring.
It says it all, I guess :)

You know, I've wanted to work in a small town library, I like the low-stress aspect of it. Not only that, I'm a homebody. I rarely go out. And yet, I can't imagine NOT living in the city. I like knowing everything is out there, waiting for me when I'm ready. I can get just about anywhere without owning a car, and I'm actually happy living next to a bus/train station. I like knowing that while I'm sequestered inside with a good book, there are still people outside going about their daily routines. It's rather comforting, even though that doesn't make much sense.
When I went home for Christmas with my parents, I had to walk Adrien late at night, and I was struck by how desolate my small hometown is late at night. Hardly any street lights, no people out and about. It was kind of depressing. It's clear that I could never move back, even if I'd wanted to. I'm a small-town person at heart, and yet, not.

I’m from a small, rural area, too and love visiting, enjoying the quiet, the nature. But I wouldn’t live there.

This is how it is with me. I know exactly what you're saying.

Preparation.
I’m preparing for my world-building class that starts next month. Personally, I dislike world building because I don’t like having to make all those decisions. Which is stupid. So, I’ve set myself up a binder so that I can world-build with the students and keep myself organized on paper instead of online... for now.
I was going to buy a really nice notebook system in a “just right” size, where you can add pages wherever and when you need them, but got over my silly self and reached for the old empty binders and old tab dividers, and binder full of blank lined binder paper, and set myself up for free. I mean, really, why else have I saved my math binder from high school, if not for this? Lol.
Now to get my characters in order to start... all 40+ of them. :-D

Congratulations on giving the course! And it looks like you are already well organised...
You can prepare something for me as well: since I first discovered the existence of the thing itself, I've been wondering if in English it's:
world-building
world building or
worldbuilding ;-)
I think the preferred term is world-building, but I’m also not sure it really matters. Either way, I e decided to hyphenate all official stuff.

When in doubt hyphenate. ;-D

Yes, always hyphenate, unless participating in NaNoWriMo because the word counter sees anything hyphenated as one word.
Reading.
This is what I will be doing for the foreseeable future. Our We Are Pride list is currently about 150 books long, and it needs to be cut to less than half that number. I need to read a ton of books to make a final determination about them.
And I'm a slow reader... so anything else I had planned for my spare time will not be happening for awhile. lol.

Thankfully, were a team of six, so I’m not reading 150 books by myself. Lol. I think I have 10-20 more books I’m planning to read for the list, after what I e already read.
I may be scarce here for awhile, unless I’m at work.

This started me thinking of places in the world I most want to visit. The Outer Hebrides, Finland, and Italy are probably my top three right now.
And I'd love to go back to Ireland and Montreal.
