Breezy

A break at last in the triple digit temps we've endured for nearly two weeks. The breeze was cool this morning and is still playful and pleasant.

Yes! They're these amazingly tiny miniatures of the adults (I'm fond of those too). I even created flagstone shelters/ramps for them to get in and out of our newly (since the October wedding) brick encircled pond.

Well done, you, for building a "bridge" for them! :-)

There's so many of them! And what a cute photo.

That's my day. I really just need to be in bed, asleep, right now. Only two more hours of work. Only two more hours.

... and then the dog will want a walk... lol.

It's better... but I am still wishing for nothing but to go back to bed. Well, maybe every other hour I can nap and read Skin After Skin, which I'm enjoying very much!

Fireworks/crackers.

I'm a bit sick of them, to be honest. They've been going off in my neighborhood for a few weeks. Last night they started in earnest around 8:30pm and didn't stop until about 3am when I peeled myself off the bathroom floor where I'd been attempting to sleep with Adrien, and got into my real bed, which had never felt as good. Lol. The bathroom is one of Adrien's safe spaces in the apartment during fireworks though she's more comfortable having me there with her.

They're still setting off fireworks today. Ugh.

Just read an article about quiet fireworks that are better for human ears and won't scare wildlife. Apparently more runaway dogs are caught by shelters on July 5th than other times of the year, which is saddening. But, I have a feeling that loud crack is part of the appeal for setting them off in the middle of a city. They just wouldn't be "cool" otherwise.

Anyway, end of rant, or whatever that was. I think I need a nap. Lol.

Marlowe did not enjoy the fireworks one tiny bit. I resorted to giving him a tiny bit of his leftover Tramadol, which did make him a little calmer though he was still shaking even after three days of lead up fireworks to the big event.

Poor Marlowe!

I was thankful that Adrien was calm as long as I stayed with her in one of her "safe" spaces. It could have been much worse. But still...

I really hope your vacation dream comes through!

I have three weeks starting now, and I feel it is much needed. Work is fun and interesting and I have awesome co-workers, but it is very intense and busy at times. And it is hard to accept, but my 61 year old brain probably isn't quite as limber and quick as it used to be, so it gets harder and takes more energy to always be on top of my game. :)

As I was away, the nest near my office window was put to good use. I saw suspicious activity this week, and I was prepared to wait, but the ''children'' are already there! This time it is not blackbirds, I don't have a clue what they are.

The deactivate a bomb from WWII nearby our apartment. Can't deny that I am a bit unsettled.
We are not allowed to leave the buildings and should go away from our windows.
