My cousins have asked if they can crash at my place while visiting a friend in town the weekend after Catalina. This is the first time I've ever hosted people to sleep over night except for my Dad, so it should be fun. They're also bringing friends I've never met, so this will be interesting!

I used to get upset when confronted with the "why are you bothering me" attitude in shops. Now I just think that probably the person in question is having a bad day or she/he doesn't like the job...

Yes, and in general customer service jobs are difficult, so it's always a pleasant surprise when someone is nice and/or helpful.

It's a gorgeous, hot (for NZ) Saturday afternoon and, as I am wont to do in such situations, I am going to sit in the shade on the deck and drink gin and tonics and read (while my beloved does the same). Ahhh, life is indeed good. :)

Yay! I love that octopus. He's somewhat of a hero in NZ. I was in the city that was his former home last year and we walked down the beach by the aquarium and we tipped our proverbial hats. Octopuses are so cool! :)
