The Best Thing About Today...
Characters
Very very slowly, my fantasy shifter characters are becoming real people. Finally. They've only been flat as a piece of paper for nearly ten years! Soon as they're more complete, I will turn my attention to building a better world. :-D

I take this as a sign. I got my yoga mat out last night, and here is the signal from the cosmos to do more than admire its leafy green color. ;-D

It is a glorious summer Saturday afternoon and I am just about to go put homegrown cucumbers in cold gin and recline out on the deck in the shade and finish up the fantastic The Lawrence Browne Affair. Life is good. Cheers, everybody. :)

Ooh, I'm also reading that right now. Cat Sebastian is two of two for me. A wonderful new (or new to this genre) author. If anyone hasn't read The Soldier's Scoundrel or The Lawrence Browne Affair, please don't judge these book by their covers; the writing and storytelling is so much better than you might expect.

Thank you for this image! It makes me glad for you and brings some happiness also to me ;-).

That's why I thought that I knew the name. So now I'll have to buy both! Oh, the hardship...

How lovely, Alison! I love imagining you there, in summery scene, doing all those leisurely summery things, while hubby and I are having late breakfast and pondering if we should drive the iceroad to the Hailuoto island situated in the sea about ten kilometres from the shore of Oulu. :-)

Oh, and thank you for this book recommendation, Alison and Karen. Not more than five minutes ago I said to hubby that lately I've had trouble finding new-to-me-author-books that manage to keep my interest. Now I know what to read next!

I'm looking forward to summery days like this! :-)
I noticed in the past few days that some early are coming back from the south. I hope that means spring isn't that far away anymore.

BTW, the stories spotlight two different couples, but they are related (literally in the case of Jack and Georgie), and the events in The Lawrence Browne Affair come after The Soldier's Scoundrel.

So did you drive the ice road out into the sea, Johanna? Sounds like a good adventure.

High five, Karen. I also really enjoyed both these books, especially The Lawrence Browne Affair (I liked the characters more). It's great to have a new m/m historical author out there whose work I really enjoy. I do like that the covers are just like all the other m/f Avon Regency romances--historical people in nice clothes in a state of slight undress, especially the first one, though the guys on the Lawrence Browne cover are both in their shirtsleeves. Pretty racy. ;)

How nice! Slightly intoxicated is the best state ;-), and obviously it was great for you to spend time both of your children together...

Nice, very nice! :-) Glad to hear you're enjoying the book. It's waiting patiently on my Kindle.

Lucky you! Big fluffy snowflakes are the best! :)

That sounds lovely, Anne. I'm glad you were able to have a fun evening with your kids. :)

We made the trip today. We took my parents with us and drove the 8 kilometer ice road to the Hailuoto island in the Gulf of Bothnia (Baltic Sea). It's an island approximately the size of Catalina, although quite flat compared to that. We also drove through the whole island to the furthest point because we were planning to take a stroll at the lighthouse and on the snow-covered beach. It turned out to be quite impossible because the wind was absolutely freezing. We hop-hop-hopped outside for a few minutes taking a couple of photos and ended up running back to the safety of our car. The dog was the only one of us who would have loved to explore some more. :-D
During the summertime the island is reachable by ferry (a half an hour trip), but during the wintertime — if the ice is at lest 35 cm thick — there's is also an ice road that can be used 24/7. It's an official ice road that is taken good care of. On Friday they had made brand new lanes because the old ones had had some cracks on them.
