I too am in black and I'm not the only one. It is the predominate color outside from what I can see. And the weather is overcast which suits me fine. I'm not sure I could accept a sunny day.

Thank you for your wishes, Antonella.

Yeah. And unfortunately I don't have any words of comfort. Basically we have to hang on for dear life and do what we can do.

And I do certainly agree with this. But while I disagreed passionately with the policies of Bush and Reagan, it just wasn't the same thing.

Partly because the GOP wasn't the same GOP. The fact that we now live in such a bitterly bipartisan world where conscience and concern for one's fellow citizens is literally a thing of the past...it's pretty disheartening.

I've just heard of the first moves of president Trump. Probably I should take it all back: you are right!

I don't begrudge the fact that other people have real weekends, but I recognise the fact, that's better for the mind and body to have two free days back to back, not only a Sunday. And then I am often too tired to do something other than reading or I am worried sick, about work or private thingies. More than 50 percent of my colleagues have given up in this special work project I am in.
When I read what you all do next to your work per example I feel very indolent.
I hope you have a delightful weekend, Antonella!

50 percent of them have given up?!

That does not speak well of the project -- or the people who came up with the idea of the project. It is clearly not realistic.

When working weekends, or even just one day in the weekend, one must find pockets of time to either have fun or do nothing in front of the tv.

I hope your project goes better soon!

I was working today. I've got tomorrow off, but I've got a meeting in the afternoon about a conference I've been asked to go to on behalf on NaNoWriMo HQ, who can't send someone out here to man a booth. It should be fun, but there are so many restrictions it's not even funny. :-P

Well, we can carry our own stuff in but nothing that requires two people to carry, for example. We can't hire our own security guards. I just laugh at that one, it's not like we need security. Professional Conference booth set up, I've discovered, is for rich companies. Just to have them set up a second table will cost nearly $200.00! Never mind if we want electricity! Just one outlet is somewhere near $400.00, if I remember right. All stuff we have to order. Or internet. Needless to say, my poor self and my friend will be making do with one table, two chairs, and a wastebasket, which comes with the price of the booth.

I have found that if I manage to balance my life between working hard and resting, being lazy and working out, being solitary and with people, I am happy and content. I know, not exactly rocket science, probably very obvious, but still, not always easy to achieve. Sometimes not even possible, when life decides to hurl too much at you at once.

Reading

That's my word for the weekend. I finished two great books yesterday, am working on finishing a third this afternoon, and will likely start a fourth tonight. I almost never get this much read in one weekend, but it's a great stuff I need to read for the Pride list and I e got nothing better to do. What better way to spend a weekend?

Flight: Queer Scifi's Annual Flash Fiction Conest is the one I'm reading right now. It's a collection of roughly 90 stories all no more than 300 words including fantasy, Sci-fi, horror and paranormal. There are some mm authors included, but most authors I've not heard of before. It's been very good!

We're including Mahu #10, Ghost Ship, by Neil Plakcy but I've only read through 7, so I'm hoping to start catching up with this series next.

Been Here All Along by Sandy Hall was a really sweet YA mm I finished yesterday.

All the Wong Places was the other I read yesterday.

I've also read the first story in the Weird Wild West anthology and loved it. I'm kinda saving that for last only because I know it will be good and it's 400 pages!

That's what I can recommend so far. :-D

Oh, it's about 'Finland100' — it's Finland's 100th independence year this year. And although the actual "birthday" is December 6th, all the Finns seem to be in party mode already. :-D Today we had teachers' meeting and a lively planning session for all the events we're are going to organize in our school this year to celebrate our country's 100th birthday.
