Sounds kinky! Will there be feathers? ;-)

If anyone can get you feeling better, it's these two.

coloring

I've got an adult coloring workshop this afternoon! So excited about it!

message 9817: by Judy (new)

Judy Stone | 378 comments Squee! How does that work? Does the library provide coloring sheets/books and pencils/pens/crayons? Or do patrons bring their books and supplies?

Sounds like a fun and relaxing afternoon.

The library supplied the markers, colored pencils, crayons and sheets to color, however, patrons were welcome to bring their own supplies too. I had half the participants bring their own coloring pens/pencils and the other half used what I provided.

I read out the "instructions", put on relaxing music and we colored for about 45 minutes. The time went by much too fast!

Dover Publishing offers up free examples from all of their coloring books to print from their website, so I printed those for free. I collected ones I wanted on Pintrest, then downloaded and saved them for easier printing.

Everyone had a great time and wanted to do it again, so I'm going to see if we can't make it a regular thing. Other libraries have "adult coloring clubs" that meet once a month. The thing is, any crafty librarian we've ever had in charge of adult programming has long since left the library so we don't have anyone doing this kind of thing at the main branch where I am. I'm it. Which is kind of awesome and kind of scary. lol. The library still wants lots of tech workshops so I've got to do at least one of those a month, but hopefully I can branch out and find some funding for more fun things. It seems adults want fun, kid-like crafts, just for them. Who knew? :-D

Jordan, does your library branch have a "Friends" group? I belong to the not-for-profit Friends of the Covington (WA) library. Our mission is to support the library and sponsor events the library wouldn't financially be able to offer. If you have a Friends group, ask if they'll sponsor a monthly adult coloring and/or crafting group. Now's the time, before the 2017 budget is finalized. Good luck.

We do. I just need to talk to my supervisor, who would talk to hers and so on and so forth. I'm sure there's money somewhere, whether it comes from our Friends or somewhere else.

I know this isn't usually a happy subject, but it is for me today.

I feared I had to pay lots of money for the final tax bill 2014, but I've got the letter today and it is much less than expected.

The poor tax people are still waiting for my tax forms for 2015 ;-).

I got "the call" yesterday telling me an apartment was available in my price range. Yesterday afternoon I filled out the application for a SHAG apartment, paid the fee and the deposit to hold the apartment. SHAG, in a nutshell, offers affordable senior apartments for moderate income seniors. Now the wait to be approved. For simple, straight forward applications, it normally takes two weeks after it's been sent to corporate. The holiday will slow the process, but if I can move before the end of the December, I'll be ecstatic.

The complex is undergoing a complete renovation, and my apartment is like walking into a brand new place: new carpet, laminate, doors, sink, cabinets, pantry, fixtures (including new bathroom fixtures!), appliances, painted, and blinds. Huge bedroom closet with storage racks.

Antonella | 11571 comments Congratulations dear Judy! It is a major step and the complex looks good.

Something funny: I saw ''Kent'', I thought England, and that the name was a bit unfortunate. But it is the States, so I suppose you don't associate anything to the name ;-).

Sabine | 3041 comments Tired

Not sure I am very productive today. My work times at the moment are: 9.00 - 21.30.
I am looking forward to a more normal work schedule in the hopefully near future.

The biggest problem is, that I can't relax in my free time. I have tried several relaxation techniques, but I can't quieten my mind.
So break is over, have all a wonderful weekend!

We get that a lot. :-) Did a quick search and there are 27 cities worldwide called Kent. Kent Washington is the third largest city in King County with a population of ~124,500.
