Oh no, I don't think that's the case! It haven't even crossed my mind that hubby's illness could have been the same as yours. No, no. I think that's highly unlikely, so no worries whatsoever! This is something entirely different.

But I'm sorry to hear you're STILL coughing! Not good, not good at all. I'll send warm thoughts and virtual hugs and I'll promise to keep my fingers crossed that you'll get rid of that cough ASAP.

FREE!

I sent off the horrific first draft of Fair Chance and now I have a whole day, maybe two, to try and catch up on...on...EVERYTHING. I am excited.

Must. Stay. Focused.

My 7th graders are painting spiritual animals and fantasy animals with old-fashioned, liquid ink. Many of them have no earlier experience of it and there is this certain 'magic' in the air when they're trying out the technique. Also, the old dip pens (I hope this is the right term) seem to fascinate them to no end. And I love to witness it all! :-)

NAVY!!!

OMG, there's apparently a Naval Ship Naming Ceremony happening in the library in half an hour. I just found out. I've been seeing lots of men in uniform, even lent one a Sharpie. He promised to bring it back, I almost told him he didn't need to. lol.

Why, oh why am I stuck on the desk when something interesting is happening?!?! Even if it is an hour and a half long. I want to go!

Yay! Freedom! I liked the parts you had shown us, the draft was perhaps a horror to write, but is certainly very good.

Enjoy your freedom although it seems you plan to do a lot of work even if you're not writing. Maybe indulge in a long walk as well( or something similar you enjoy) :)

Quote

I decide to put a quote on my black board this morning instead of my currently reading book, which no one ever asks about anyway.

Today's quote is:

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I'm glad you got something good out of it...eventually! Around here, pressure cookers are dangerous weapons! Well, I've never seen anyone use it to cook with before they were used as bombs, so...yeah.

The newspaper article doesn't explain why the library for a ship ceremony, but it's very interesting and briefly mentions Harvey Milk, as he's had a ship named after him recently as well.

Creating a power point for a talk I have to give next week on a program I did last spring. I dislike, strongly, public speaking. Even though I joined the speech and debate club in college.

This will, however, be one of the last huge things I do "for" the ex-supervisor. And I'm sure she'll be in the audience. *runs and hides quickly never to be seen again.*

Other than one day this week where -- literally -- every single thing I did ended in hitting a wall (up to an including trying to swim and discovering the pool heater had stopped working) it was a productive week and I managed to get a lot done.

The problem for me right now is I have a trusted assistant, but her own life is as chaotic as mine, soooo I don't like to bother her. :-D Which is funny for a lot of reasons (BELIEVE ME, I KNOW) and everything takes so much time. So I think to myself, well, today I'll format two translations and upload them and send a letter to a publisher and buy my brother-in-law's birthday gift and go for a swim.

And the day turns out...I can't complete the formatting because I'm missing materials, I can't find the contract for the publisher, I do manage to buy the gift, but the pool heater does not work and I am swimming in 69 degree water which is not as pleasant as one might wish.

So I have a number of partial successes, which means that the day's work overflows onto the next day which is already planned out and has its own challenges.

BUT by the end of the week everything was mostly accomplished and all the trauma and drama is once more in perspective. It would be nice to remember that during the trauma and drama, but sometimes that's hard.
