Anne | 6816 comments Thank you, lovely people, I have decided to believe you, it will be worth it :)

I will stay with my youngest sister in the interim, she lives a little way outside Oslo so I have to go by ferry and a bus to get to work. Quite a change for me who is used to walk or bicycle everywhere. Fortunately they have an annexe to their house so I won't have to live on top of them all the time. It will be fun to spend some time with her lovely little twins though, they are five, pluss their wonderful big brother of 15. :). I love my sister very much, but I am not too impressed with her husband though, so it would be hard to live too close. But this will work, I hope. And I have things to do and people to see as well (Southampton...) so that helps.

This is wonderful, I agree with Antonella, you are talented. I always wanted to be able to draw, but unfortunately, my stick figures never impressed anyone :)

I have press ganged my son and one of my nephews to help me, they are big, strong guys and also very kind and helpful. It is impressive how things that for me seem almost impossible to do is a piece of cake for them. Sometimes it is an advantage to have physical strength and long arms :)

IDEA!!!!

OH YES. These berries are KILLING me. The picking is.

We have exceptionally lot of them in the garden this autumn. And they aren't called sea buckTHORN for nothing. Also, the berries grow real dense (very near each other). ---> See the pic I posted on FB a few minutes ago...

Very healthy. Focus on all that vitamin C.

And all the vitamin D you're harvesting from the light while outside. ;-)

I was saved buy the rain today (after picking the berries for about two hours — and only managing to pick about one-hundredth portion of them).

Ouch. What do you do with them? I didn't know they're such a superfood. I was reading about them just now, and I'm impressed!

Oh yes, superfood is definitely a correct term here. One single sea buckthorn berry contains 15 times more vitamin C than an orange.

Here it is in a nutshell:

"Also called sandthorn, sallowthorn or seaberry, and tyrni in Finnish, the sea-buckthorn berry is one of nature’s most powerful plants. It offers one of the widest ranges of nutrients from a single source found on earth, including antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, omega fatty acids, carotenoids, and more. Harvested in Finland in large quantities and native to other countries of Northern Europe and Asia, it is also able to grow anywhere in temperate latitudes; sea-buckthorn is well adapted to cold climates and has thrived in Canada since its introduction there fifty years ago."

Hubby and I mainly use it in our daily berry smoothies (with other berries). But one can make delicious custard out of it. Also popular sea buckthorn thingies are juice, liquor and jam.
