After a lovely week-long road trip which included a short visit to Yosemite Park and then driving along the coast to Cambria and Monterey, meeting dear friends, and admiring the incredible views and wildlife (deer, sea otters! all sorts of seals - sea lions, elephant seals, and harbor seals; also turkey vultures and cute ground squirrels).

Still waiting to hear. But if the rumor mill is correct, and no one talked about the last two positions I applied for like they're talking about this one, then I'm getting it and we're just waiting on official word from city hall. My coworker in my department, heard unofficially from the supervisor she applied with that they will offer her that job when they hear back from city hall. :-D I'm wicked happy for her!

As one of our custodians said, we'll be getting a raise because we'll be buying less Tylenol. Lol. We'll be in different departments after being two halves of a whole for about four to five years. We're Lucy and Ethel. We argue like an old married couple. Thankfully we will still work in the same building. :-D

Table

An antique cherry drop leaf table that can expand to ten feet long to be exact. Uh, minus the extra leaves to make up the middle of the ten feet.

This is my new kitchen table, curtesy of my parents trying to clean out the garage and finally realizing that if I used an oil cloth covering I wouldn't destroy it with messy craft projects or food. :-D wicked excited to have something so nice in my apartment for furniture. Now I just need to find someone who can make me some leaves for it someday.

I've also re-acquired my childhood bookcase from my moms office. This means I now have a special place for classic gay mysteries away from my stuffed mm shelves! Woo hoo!

Even when it's cold, if it's a really sunny afternoon the butterflies will sometimes come out for a bit. We live next to a big gully full of eucalyptus and other big trees, so maybe they spend the winter in there. NZ monarch butterflies don't migrate so I'm not really sure, but I see them sometimes on nice sunny days and I love it. :)

And yes, leaving those old work partnerships is hard, but if you're in the same building the friendship can continue and sometimes grow in unexpected ways.

What kinds of butterflies do you see? We only see Monarchs, and rather pallid ones at that (they're migrating, I think).

Had a great dinner with my parents over the weekend since yesterday was my mom's b-day too. And we went to the Kennedy Library and Museum yesterday which was really interesting and enlightening! They finally met Adrien too! :-) By the end of the weekend I think they'd become friends.
