The Best Thing About Today...
Ooookay, here's my randomly-opened-dictionary-word for today:
Mattress
Hmmm. Maybe there's a hidden meaning in this...

I could certainly use one of those right about now.
Not feeling well. Wishing I'd called in sick and stayed home. ugh. Mattress. I want my mattress. With the pillow and blankets and to be warm and cozy and relaxed. Yep.

booklists
We have these fantastic "historical" book lists for teens dating back to the 1950's! They're great little booklets with cool cover art (the ones from the 60's and 70's really stand out!) and interesting subjects. I'm really excited because for the first time they're leaving our office to visit with another department that will digitize them and make them available for patrons to look at!

I have an adult son. We are close so even if we can go weeks without talking to each other, I somehow always knows he is there.
And he always calls giving support and consolation when he knows I really need it. And I know he is like that with his friends as well. He often might seem a little grumpy, but when needed, his compassion and caring shows. Case in point, he has been very supportive these days when the stress of selling gets to be too much.
I'm very proud of him.
Sorry if this seems like bragging, it is just my heart overflowing..

I'm so glad for you both!
And - I confess - also a bit envious, as usual when I hear of tight and ''real'' family ties.

Sounds like he was raised by a caring and loving mom.

HUGS
The aunt of a close friend/coworker just passed away this afternoon. I'm working an extra three hours so she can go home early.

So today my word is THREEDAYWEEKEND ;-D
Three days of not checking my email. Granted, I am barely checking my email now, but I feel guilty about that. Whereas for three days I will feel no guilt. :-D
Sweeeet sweet three days.

The martyrologies are not much so illustrated, here for ex. an initial in form of a bird in the martyrology by the Venerable Bede († 735) in Anglo-Saxon script, produced in the 9th century. Or a nice illustration in a copy of the martyrology of Ado of Vienne († 875) possibly written around 880/890.
I prefer the Irish manuscripts of the Abbey Library, see for ex. the first pages of this Gospel Book written and illuminated by Irish monks around 750 in Ireland.

is my word for today. I've got Sunday and Monday off. But today, I'm teaching a mini flash fiction workshop, so if people show up, that should be a lot of fun!

I love geraniums! I hope we're talking about the same thing; for some reason we use the same name for totally different plants. I mean the ones which are also called "hardy geraniums", and not pelargoniums.

Schloss Benrath was listed as a *gasp* pleasure palace? Huh? To say I was surprised is an understatement. Googling pleasure palace made it seem like it was nothing more than a very pretty brothel for the nobility. Glad I clicked the link for maison de plaisance and *phew* learned otherwise. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lusts...

I awoke to find myself trapped in the world of famous paintings. See how many of them you can name. There are 25 in all.

I'm afraid I was talking about regular pelargoniums. We bought bunch of them for the several pots on the patio around the house. BUT, I googled "hardy geraniums" and they look lovely! :-)

I thought you might mean those! They're very good for cheering up an area, and the flowers last for ages.

It's a very large family of plants, so there's an amazing variety.
