Oh no! I am glad you are alright, Sabine. That's really scary. Look after yourself. Gentle hugs.

Thank you so much, Alison. *hugging back* Cried my eyes out for three days, talked and ranted with friends and here in this thread. Dug our pictures, can't find half of it. Blogged about it. But yes, definitely feeling a lot better now. The old me would have pretended Eugene didn't exist in this world but I'm trying to change that attitude. :)

daycare...

...the puppy is in daycare for the first time today while guys clean the dryer vent in my apartment at some point this afternoon. I'll pick her up on my late lunch break. Hopefully, she's adjusting to the group environment and isn't too scared of the other dogs. (hopefully they don't bark at her too much!) I'm crossing my fingers!

Update...

...she did well. Was nervous at first, and then slowly relaxed. Cute moment though: When I went to pick her up and they brought her out from the back, she started this hoping thing she does when she's excited to see me. Her front paws leave the ground but not her back paws. It's just ridiculously cute. And she did it for so long, I think she was just really glad to go home at the end of the day. Unfortunately, I had to go back to work after that.

I hope next time she needs daycare it's on one of my 9-5 days when I don't have to rush anywhere on my lunch break. That was not fun. At all. But seeing her hopping made up for it. :-)

Antonella | 11572 comments Babies!

(blackbird babies ;-))

ETA: Phantom blackbird babies, because I can't see them, I only see the parents coming and going to feed them. The funny thing is that I had put raisins and sunflower seeds for them on the windowsill, and only the sunflower seeds were eaten by another tiny bird, not a blackbird. But now all the raisins are suddenly gone, so I suppose the blackbirds really need food for the children and have overcome their misgivings about me.

This is like the dove family in the bedroom chimney. What a racket they make! I can hear them but I can't see them at all.

They are fine for now, but I do wish they would move before next winter. I would kind of like to use the fireplace.

Anne | 6816 comments Trabant.

This morning I saw one of the old Eastern Europe cars. It was tiny and old and had this very old fashioned, non- aerodynamic look,, but it looked like it had been lovingly kept, polished and clean without a scratch. It made me smile, thinking that the owner probably cherishes his old car and looks after it so well.

Ah. Being moved to tears for others is so much better than crying over our personal woes.

Martyrology

This is apparently a register or history of martyrs. I found it when I decided to randomly open the dictionary to find today's word.

:-D

So, yes, there is such a thing. And amazingly my mother's name is not in it! WHAT AN OVERSIGHT! ;-P

Antonella | 11572 comments Josh wrote: "Martyrology"

We have a few of them, mainly from the 9th century, in the local library.

ETA: The ''local library'' being on of the most famous libraries in Europe for ancient manuscripts and books: http://www.stibi.ch/en-us/info/exhibi...
I love to work sporadically for them.
