Winter

...it's not over yet. Might not be snowing but it's been raining and cold enough to need a winter coat for the past three to four days. I'm sick of it!

Anne | 6816 comments Books.

As you know, I'm busy packing stuff away, that also means emptying bookshelves. Usually they sit there as part of the scenery, as it were, but now I have reaquainted myself with them while putting them in boxes. Some of them I have had since my youth, we are talking forty years ago. Some bring back bittersweet memories, ( the Tolkien set that my ex-husband owned when we met), some changed the way I look at the world around me ( hello James Baldwin, Jean Genet, Marilyn French, Siegfried Lenz and many more) some remind me of my childhood or my kids' ( hi Astrid Lindgren and Tove Jansson) some I have inherited from my grandmother and it brings her back( I'm looking at you, Inger Hagerup), some are for fun, or for getting scared ( I will never read Lovecraft again) or solve mysteries ( oh hi there Agatha!)

Some have connected me to people I never would have met or known about otherwise ( I see you Laura Albert aka JTLeroy, and good to see you again Josh Lanyon). I could go on and on, but shall stop here of course. I look forward to seeing you again when I open the boxes and put you up on shelves in my new home, sometimes in September. Until then, I'll think of you and all the joy, heartbreak, thoughts and ideas you have brought me.

Sorry for this long, self- indulgent post. Back to packing :)

Thank you for sharing, Anne. That's exactly how I am feeling, when I am looking really at my old and younger friends in my bookshelves.
When I look at The Lord Of The Rings, I see me reading it the first time, instead as learning for my university-entrance diploma.:-)
I had to learn then really day and night, but it was so worth it.
I could and can easily get drunken by words.
You described that so well, Anne! ♡♡♡

Josephine (jojiemon_) | 225 comments Hugging everyone back.

Thank you for reading, guys. Thank you for your thoughts and sympathy. I was crying when I wrote that, too. Would have said more but I have a tendency to not finish tributes because I go on and on so I tried to make it concise this time.

He was the life of the party, always smiling and energetic. A part of me finds comfort in the fact that he received the best care (he was hospitalized in Mt. Sinai) and though most of his friends are here in PH, he did have plenty of friends there, too. Plus he had his mom with him and his partner. He was loved and taken cared of, I guess in the end that's all that matters.

Sabine | 3041 comments Crash

Today my tram was involved in an accident, a truck crashed in the tram, direct, where I was sitting. I was very lucky, only one or two little bruises.
I have visited a doctor, because it was on my way to my shop. And I have to go Thursday again, he wants to see my shoulder again. I was a little bit shaky at work, but now I sit in the tram again on my way home. To write this it's a good distraction and I am so not cool.

Yikes. I hope your shoulder is okay and I'm glad you weren't seriously injured. I think this calls for a hot bath, some wine, and some Josh Lanyon audio.

Well, good heavens, Sabine! What a way to start the day. Glad you went to the doctor, and weren't seriously injured. I think you deserve to be pampered! *nods head vigorously* A soak in a decadently scented bubble bath? A massage to loosen up all those tight muscles? An adult beverage of your choice before a wonderfully prepared meal. Dinner music or a Josh audiobook you've been saving for a special occasion? Ladies choice. IOW, sweet Sabine, it's your day (night, whatever!) to spoil yourself rotten. Virtual *gentle* hugs.

message 8897: by Josephine (last edited May 10, 2016 11:18PM) (new)

Josephine (jojiemon_) | 225 comments Giving you lots of hugs, Sabine. A few years ago my husband and I figured in a vehicular accident as well where a truck also rammed directly to where we sat. The truck was said to be weighing 4T with approx. 30T cargo.

Our seat got dislocated and there was a huge hole on the floor a few inches from our feet. My seatmate was bleeding in his mouth.

Hubby and I got away with concussion. I was hospitalized for a day but my headache lasted for fifteen days. :(

The few seconds after the collision I felt like I was floating lol. It didn't register to me right away that people around us were screaming.

I know it's such a shock. Take a day off or two, read a good book or watch a good movie. Let's celebrate life!! <3
