The Best Thing About Today...

NOT fasting- Intermittent Fasting- very different.

Not all diets work for everyone. I do find that using a journal like Sparkpeople or Myfitnesspal, does help to see what works for you.
For the first time ever, I 'm doing a ketosis diet (healthy fats, grass fed/Wild protein, lots of greens) that also has Intermittent fasting as a component. I 'm eating more calories to loose the same amount of weight as when I do my low fat diet. My energy's higher and I can exercise more than on my regular low fat diet. I don't think I'd believe it, if I hadn't experienced it. AND, my moood is the most stable it's ever been. NO Sugar on this diet, but I feel so much stronger it's worth it!!

Soooo... we have a good regular blender which we use to make berry smoothie for mornings, but we did end up buying a juicer today and a bag full of ingredients for Josh's green juice. :-)

Let us know how you like the green :)

The same to you and all around!
This has always been a special day for me because of the ties i feel with Ireland.

Very good, thank you!

Wise words, Josh and Anne!

Oh, yes, two totally different things. And even with Intermittent Fasting there are different versions. I wouldn't go for fasting!
BTW that's the link where I found my information on the topic.

Problem is, I'm a very picky eater, which sounds so childish to say it like that. There's just a lot of foods I don't like the taste and/or the texture of. And sadly, most vegetables fall into that category. And some fruits too. The other issue is that I don't have anyone to share fresh foods with. So I might buy some, but then half of it dies before I get a chance to use it, which I find to be a huge waste of money and food. :-( So, yeah.
But I know exactly what you mean. I do my best to ignore junk food in the store so that I don't have it at home. Then if I'm hungry it's either eat what's there, or don't eat at all. Or stop being lazy and walk to the convenience store across the street and buy junk food. lol. I'm terrible.

Space is an issue in my apartment. Especially in the kitchen! Yes, I have tons of cabinet space, but half of it I can't get to because it's above the fridge and the stove hood, or the door is blocked by the stove hood and the cabinets above it. Craziness. Truly. lol. I've got three metal shelves outside the kitchen in the hall to house pots, pans, and mixing bowls and the like. I hope my next place is better equipped to house all my kitchen stuff. I sure have a lot even though I hate cooking. :-)

This reminds me that I do have an immersion blender. It's the only blender I have. I'm sooo not into spinach or kale, but maybe I'll give it a try since you give it high marks and I do like the sound of all that it does!

When I work nights, I skip a meal, usually dinner, or is it lunch? I never really know. I eat a very late breakfast, then have a food break at 4pm and then get home around 8:30, when I might have a small snack or a cup of tea or something and that's it.
But, as someone mentioned walnuts, I make my own granola and eat that for breakfast either with milk or yogurt. No way I could skip that. I'd be starving by the time I get to lunch on a work day. lol.
On days when I'm home all day, I might do a late breakfast around noon and then a late dinner and skip lunch. Or just have a snack for dinner, depending on the mood I'm in or the food available.
And I eat very small portions anyway. I eat a lot for lunch at work to keep me going, but everything else is small. *shrugs*

The weird thing is, I do feel fine, I just throw up once in a while, no warning or anything.

I'd go and see a doctor, especially considering your last health adventures... And get well soon!

Having the juicer does make it easier. Of course the juicer takes up a lot of room in itself. And there is the washing, peeling, chopping and then cleaning up. So I know it's not for everyone. But I also know how much better I feel when I juice regularly.

yes! I second all this.
I am smarter and calmer when I juice. I'm not exaggerating. My brain works better. My body works better.

You have to give it a few tries though. The first time I drank green juice I almost spit it out. Now I actually crave it.

We tried to choose a juicer that makes it all as simple as possible. It has XL sized feeding tube and it should be very quick and easy (?) to clean. It can also make up to 2 liters juice in one go, so it wasn't the smallest available. We have enough counter space for it and it doesn't even look too bad, so I'm pretty excited about the whole thing.

I had such a long workday today that I haven't had time to use the juicer yet, but I promise to report back later on. :-)

Apparently you have to taste a new thing 16 times before you like it. Or so they say. I wonder who " they" are, by the way. ;)

Maybe my next place will have more counter space. I've got nothing right now. Lol.
I like the idea of juicing, and lord knows my brain needs a boost as well as my body, so we'll see.

You can add orange juice, apple juice to it of course to give it a boost. They parsley/spinach from Josh's recipe would probably work in this too.
Kale, spinach, Chard-- These have components that increase serotonin levels and help with mood stability during stress/anxiety etc. I can really tell a difference when I am drinking my juice on a regular basis and when I don't. I am WAY more resilient when juicing. I eat Kale and spinach salads when I can't juice.
Walnuts are also a good snack during stress. They have the Fatty acids your brain needs to keep healthy.
Seriously, try the blender kale for a week. You will feel the difference. It's not a high, it's a resilience that lets you be You.
Try. It. =)
