My iBook G4's screen, well, I know the hinges broke on both sides so it won't stay upright so today when I was laying on the floor I propped it up on the couch. My mom walked by and, well, she stepped on it. I shut it down and then restarted it. But instead of loading up it had a little folder icon in the center that would flash between the Finder Icon and a Question Mark, I think it couldn't find an OS to boot on, but I'm not sure...

Yea... that's what everybody else has been telling me... "Oh, yea, you're screwed."

Um... thats bad, bad, bad. Your right, it can't find the boot information. I'll look it up and tell you later.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Yea, I was reading up on MacRumors about that...

message 15: by TigerFire, The Computer know-it-all (new)

TigerFire (jerlig12) | 37 comments Mod
What did it say?

message 16: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 06, 2009 06:21PM) (new)

For the hinges it said the best the to do is take it to the Mac store for repairs, for my OS problem...nothing. But I found this on a fourm:

this little folder with the Finder logo pops up before OSX loads up and flash a "question mark on the folder".

imac cant find a startup OS, restart and hold down the X key. if that doesn't work try starting up w/ the ALT key down, that will load the boot loader screen.

message 17: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 06, 2009 06:22PM) (new)

im gonna try that out...

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Pressing X didn't help but when I pressed ALT It came up with a refresh coil type of arrow button and this straight arrow button... What do you think that means?

message 19: by TigerFire, The Computer know-it-all (new)

TigerFire (jerlig12) | 37 comments Mod
gtg, I look into that, both of you.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, thanks Jeremy, I pressed the straight arrow and it didn't do anything, so I pressed the coil one, the mouse changed into that little watch icon so it was loading, but then it stopped and nothing happened... :(

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, I'm making it with Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver, so I can't use an online editor. So I'm going to have to pay for it.
