Reading challenge for 2014

I'm having a great time so far. I've read a love story set in Japan that features a talking tea cup, another love story involving a Texas ranger and a runaway android, another one that reminded me equally of This Old House merged together with the Ghost and Mrs Muir, a funny but poignant satire involving an international search for paintings, a dystopian book where women have to reestablish civilization, a heart-warming story of a young adolescent who overcomes the absence of her mother by learning to play the trombone, and the adventures of a couple who stumble upon intergalactic travel and all the interesting places they go, together and separately. Finally, I'm reading now the history of the Mongolian empire (of which, I knew nothing) and am having a dandy time.
The really neat thing is that all the authors of these books are on GR and I do believe I've ended up being in some kind of contact with each, either because I started following their reviews and books, or they started following mine. They don't pester me or hover over my shoulder as I read, but do answer questions if asked and are generally quite nice and approachable. Many have become GR friends and have pointed me to even more books.
It's a fine life!

So I decided that this years target would be 80, since I now work ALL THE TIME running the bookstore, I figured I should give myself some breathing room.
So far, I am two books behind :/ I think this is because of the sheer amount I work (at least 40 hours a week!) and although I have commuting time (2 hours a day on trains... sigh...) I lost the hour in the monring I used to set aside for reading.
I do have to keep reminding myself that, at some points in 2013, I fell behind too, yet I still managed to smash my target. So here's to being positive :)
Happy Reading this year, folks!
I opted for one more book than i read last year which brings my challenge total up to 140. So far this year i have managed 3 lol
