I found a great source of many of the classics. This is for e-books/kindles. They are free and easy to download. It was easy to get them on my Kindle for when I am traveling. After all I can't exactly bring my "Great Books" collection with me.

Another source for iPad is an app called Free Books which has 23,000+ books. I read Little Lord Fauntleroy on it. Also, the Goodread app has free eBooks for most of the public domain lists. I'm reading Les Miserables on it.
