I read the first 4over the internet and found that I thought they were brilliant, I decided then in a split decision I wanted to see what happened next.... Cant say that I neither regreted nor liked my quicked thinking. It was just too over the top and Elena [in the book:] has changed a lot!
I am halfway through Runemark, and I have discovered I am not one for books full of background detail... Lol.

It's a fantasy about how the first elf came into being... :) It's technically going to be 3-4 books long, but I am only half way through the first book.

That's what was happening to me over the past year. I used to write everyday, but than I began school...
LOL

message 308: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) I started writing [about 5weeks ago:] because I was having a 4week holiday and I knew I was bound to get bored. And ever since I have been writing stories all the time. Lol.

message 309: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 617 comments Just finished The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman. Thrilled to have finally finished His Dark Materials Trilogy, but still debating how I feel about the book itself.

Just began The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing.

Yeah I tend to obsesses till I know as much as I can about something...as long as it isn't numbers. For some reason out of everything I can't retain anything having to do with numbers. But languages, random facts, history, etc. I've got it covered.

message 323: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shadowrose) I'm having a hard time finding something to keep my interest as I read it. I've put down Two Towers and P&P&Z till I can get in the mood for those. Now I'm trying out a new vampire series which most are familiar with, the Anita Blake series. So here's hoping Guilty Pleasures can keep me interested.

message 324: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (theholyterror) I started [image error] last night at work.

It's a retelling of Cinderella and it really reminds me of the movie Ever After, which I love, with fairies. I like it so far.

message 325: by Lynda (new)

Its really good. I'm already almost done with it...I requested the rest of the series from my library. Hopefully, they won't make me wait 3 months like they did with Dark Lover. I'd be very sad...

message 327: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 360 comments I'm about halfway through The Princess Bride and loving it. i've seen the movie numerous times - and will be watching it again after I finish the book. I think I'll enjoy the movie more now because of things in the book that fill in the details. For example, at the end of the movie, Fezzik 'just happens' to find four white horses for them to ride off on; I just finished reading the part that explains how Prince Humperdinck spent years breeding this strain of white horse and currently has - yup, four of them!

message 328: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (klonk) I am currently reading The Ice Princess by Camilla Läckberg. I am not sure what I think just yet, it's quite slow but intriguing at the same time.

message 329: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments My fiancé calls me the ice princess. Anyway, just finished The Sundering from the war of the ancients trilogy. I started Sophie kinsella's Can You Keep a Secret? Seems cute so far.

message 330: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) I finished Coraline by Neil Gaiman (weird) and Blue Bloods by Melissa De la Cruz this weekend. Blue Bloods was a good book. Did I hear right that Masquerade wasn't as good??
Anyway, I have no books to read until I get my new library card Tuesday (hopefully). I guess I should pack or something lol.

I have it on my to-read list but haven't had the time to check it out yet! I will get to it...especially since I've heard so many good things about it.

I remembered I got Odd Thomas from a yard sale along with Forever Odd so I'm reading that now. Only on Chapter 3 but so far I really like it.

I was very upset when they wanted to accuse Zhadist wrongfully in that situation with Havers!! Poor Poor Zhadist,I was also annoyed with Beth and Mary and sometimes Bella when they would act scared of him, that hurt his feelings.
Rhage is funny lol I also felt bad for him a little bit

Could easily be read in a day for a moderately fast reader if mainly uninterrupted. I read it in 2+ days, but I've also been gardening and canning.

I'm currently reading Butch's story, and am so glad to see your comment. I've read so many comments about how weak or disappointing Butch's book was, but I'm enjoying it so far.

Same here, NU. Love those guys!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I loved Butch's book, BJ. Butch really resonated with me. He was very tortured. And I loved Marissa. Yes, I am a Marissa fan. :)

message 350: by new_user (last edited Aug 25, 2009 11:45AM) (new)

new_user Rose, some people just dislike a character with real weaknesses (and not because he's just vulnerable or sensitive like Z, for example). Butch came off as an a-hole in the first book, but it was obvious that wasn't his whole character. He was complex, with certain motivations powering his actions, and he obviously cared for Beth, among other things (like his work). There are a lot more of these guys than there are sensitive souls like the Brothers. LOL. Besides, he joins that gentle crowd in his book. LOL.

Everyone thought Marissa was weak, but I thought she was realistic. She's loved and been committed to a man for years and still hoping it'll all work out. I can't even count the number of times I've heard of a man or woman staying in a stagnant relationship like this. Every heroine can't be a machine-gun toting barbarian, LOL. All things considered, I thought she took Wrath's treatment of her with grace. I think I would have been a mess.
