I am currently reading (2009)...
It's not really her...it's the contemporary romance genre. For some reason I have a hard time getting into it. I've read some chick-lit that I guess can be considered contemp romance, but for the most part I don't care for the genre.

I read Cindy Gerard , Suzanne Brockmann , Marliss Melton , and Lora Leigh's contemporary suspence/romance and love them. Maybe I will like Garwood's too because I do enjoy the genre. But if you're not a fan of it, I can totally understand.
Jackie wrote: "I actually have been wanting to read Lora Leigh. I've heard many good things about her books. :-)"She has several series. Breeds is a PNR type series, TemptingSEALS and EliteOPs are suspence/romance. She also has some erotic series, though all her books (as far as I know) have a good deal of sex in them.
I'm now reading Forstchen's One Second After and Greg Keye's The Blood Knight (Book 3 of the The Kingdom of Thorn and Bone series). I have really enjoyed Keye's series.
I went to Barnes & Noble to buy the rest of the BDB books since I only have the first and will finish it quickly. I was so excited to get to go buy them today and when I got there.....they only had a few copies the rest of the shelf was bare, they had a few of Dark Lover and Lover Avenged.

my gosh I didn't know they were so sought after. Thank goodness for amazon and book depository, I'll just order them and get them cheaper and straight to my door. I wonder when this whole vampire craze is going to blow over, even Anne Rices books, came out in 90's are making a come back and all the Ya and PNR are selling crazy. I've always enjoyed them but it seems Twilight lit the fuse for other authors and series as well.
Lisa Anne wrote: "I decided to start Mistress of the Art of Death. I read that earlier this year on the recommendation of a very good friend (who works in a bookstore and has a great knack for recommending new books and authors to people). She was absolutely correct, and I ended up loving this book. I intend to read the others in the series, but my already-purchased TBR pile has to get down a little lower before I get anything new!

I'm reading Ecstasy A Novel, but as soon as I am finished with it I am going to re-read Wit'ch Fire! :)

Boy, Pams sure have good taste ;) I just started this book today and am already loving it!

No I havent got the next book! And it's annoying me. The Hunger Games is one of those books where you finish the first one, and you just want to pick the next one up straight away!

You definitely have to read the sequel Catching Fire. I liked it even better than Hunger Games and I loved Hunger Games. I can't wait for the next book.
I am going to ask my parents to get it from for xmas!!
And Jackie, you don't know how bad I do want it!

I just finished Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier. It was really good, I really liked it.And now I'm reading Double Dare by Saskia Walker. So far it's realy good and I'm finding it entertaining.
starting Love Eternal today, finished Dark Lover last night. J R Ward has a very gripping style, she keeps the action going non-stop with little twists and turns. Sometimes I thought the ammount of sex was a little much but new relationships can be that way so I let it slide.
I'm reading Club Dead at the moment, I wasn't overly keen on Living Dead in Dallas so I'm hoping this one is better, so far it is keeping my attention.
Loved Howl's Moving Castle and am now reading Angels' Blood - I'm having a bit of a problem with angels who torture, even if it is contract-breaking vampires who are being tortured. Elena's character has caught me, tho.I'm listening to The Graveyard Book, and enjoying that so much that I'm almost looking forward to doing the ironing so I can listen some more!
I will be starting The Stupidest Angel A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror, Version 2.0 tonight.
Thanks UniquelyMoi. I think it was the TemptingSEALS and EliteOPs that I heard someone mention here which peaked my interest. I ♥ the BDB series. I finished Lover Avenged last weekend and I miss the brothers already. I hope the next book gets published soon although I know LA only came out a couple of months ago, but it's a pain waiting.

I liked TemptingSEALs and EliteOPs. Not PNR, but very good. If you find you like them, also try Cindy Gerard's BodyGuards and BOI series. If you do, read Bodyguards first as BOI is a spin-off of that.
Oh, and we all miss the Brothers. April 27th is the release date for LoverMine. Too far away.

Thanks for the recs!
April 27th is not soon enough :( Lover Mine is about John and Xhex, right? There's a BDB group here that I've been lurking on a bit. I didn't want to read everything though until I finished the last one. Now that I have I think I'm going to join so I can get more info. I can't seem to get enough of these characters.

Cool. I really do like Scott Westerfeld- he makes some of the most interesting worlds. I have read his first midnighters book, and that was very good.

I have that to read as well as his other 2 in that series. I also have another of series I wanna read as well lol.
Ellen, think of being 16 again and wanting to be pretty and beautiful. Then think of havin operations @ 16 to be made that way (but there are complications) and you look like all the other people as well.Thats the idea of the book sweetie x
Hehe, I am only 14. Lol. But I understand what you mean when kids think that they wanting to go get operations to be all pretty and beautiful... basically plastic. Lol.
Yeah, I think I am deifintly going to have to read this series!

I think it's the way he makes another world that is so original fit into our every day world that I like about his writing. He is so creative with his book ideas!

Btw, in your profile picture is that just a random picture of huskies? Or are they yours?
Sorry, a bit random, but I looove Huskies to death! They're so gorgeous!

I have actually read the first book, Succubus Blues. And I loved it. I have the next three on my laptop, but I want to get them in books and so far, I am avoiding temptation very well. Lol. I want to try out her Dark Swan series, but not very many people I know have read that so its hard to get feedback!
Damn, I love Huskies though!
I have just finished the marvellous
, which I can't recommend enough if your wanting to read about kids who wanna be normal. Now I am about to read

What do you mean, not very many people you know have read that, Ellen! LOL. There's a whole thread devoted to that series somewhere around here. xD If you liked her other series, I think you will definitely like the Swan books.

Grrr....
It's just, compared to her other two series, not very many people I know have read it. But, I would read it regardless, it's just nice to have some feedback, you know?
There's probably more, but here are a few:http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Beware of spoilers, LOL.
I'm only 50 pages or so into Mistress of the Art of Death and the story itself is getting interesting (her is only so-so though), but Franklin's language is subpar and slightly laughable so far. She actually used the phrase "she might as well have been wearing a 'rape me' placard." Are you serious!!!!???? Taking a modern phrase and replacing one word does not make it fit into its time period in the least.
Lisa Anne, I haven't even heard of the book you're reading. But reading what you just wrote was hilarious!
I think I'm adding Nights at the Circus to my currently reading pile. I was supposed to read it for a class in college but only read parts of it.
Just finished Pretties. Wow, what a book. Had me stuck to it over the past 48hrs. This is a great 2nd book for this series. Shows you how Tally and the gang start thinking for themselves and all the trouble they get into lol. Can't wait to see what happens next in the next installment.I would say 8/10 again for me.
Now I am readin Megan's Way
Finished and loved The Graveyard Book (5* for me) and am now reading Savvy, which was on of the Newbery Honor books this year (Graveyard was the winner). I'm really liking it so far. It stalled a little bit for a couple of chapters for me, but has really picked up again - I'm currently at the midway point.

What us it about her contemporary stuff that doesn't do it for you? Are there contemps that you like or is it the genre as a whole?
