I couldn't finish Let The Right One In. It was a little boring and not as creepy as I had hoped. I haven't decided what I'm going to read now. Maybe Good Omens....or Fluke...or Pretties. Decisions....
I struggled through Les Miserables in high school, disliked it enough that I can't see the musical, although have enjoyed a couple of the movie versions ... the one from the 1970s with Anthony Perkins as Javert, and the one with Liam Neeson as Jean Valjean, were both pretty good, IMHO. ~~~~~~~~|~~~~~~~~
I'm looking for something more appropriate to the season, found my H.P. Lovecraft Collection! Might bounce back and forth between that and some Poe.
I liked Liam Neeson as Valjean too. I haven't seen the play. I think it would just ruin it for me. :( Poe is good too.
I LOVED the musical Les Miserable! I have the book on my tbr list, but I'm awful at reading books when I know how they will turn out. I hope I actually read this one though.
I'm about halfway through Lover Unbound and I have to say that it isn't nearly as interesting as the previous books. I'm a little disappointed, because I was looking forward to reading about V. :( I don't feel the chemistry between him and Jane. Although, reading about John Matthew is interesting. Is it sad that I am more interested in JM than V, when it is V's book?
Just finished Lover Unbound, and I have to say that the 2nd half of the book...was a million times better! I ended up loving the book even though the first half bored me. :)
Finished Queen of Dragons and liked it a lot more than I thought I would through the first half - you have to love a book where the heroine's Gifts are so much stronger than the hero's! Ended up a 4* - but it looks like this book and the next one should really be called Part I and Part II sigh!A Superior Death was so-so. By the end, I didn't even care who the murderer was.
Now reading The Perils of Pursuing a Prince and the heroine so far comes across as a twit and a ninny and perhaps an imbecile, so of course I have to continue to see how she magically becomes something else. Since this isn't a book about magic, what are my chances?!
Just finished Pamela Palmer's Desire Untamed and it was so so so good that I'm tracking the next books in the series down!Oh and before that I read Shannon K Butcher's [Book: Love you To Death|6453332] and if anyone's thinking of reading it, you definitely should! It was another great read and it's now on my keeper shelf along with the Palmer :)
and before that I attempted to read Shoot to Thrill by [Author:Nina Bruhns] but despite its somewhat high ratings, I couldn't get into it (The Heroine, in my not so humble opinion, was an idiot)
Oh and I'm in the middle of Michelle Sagara's Cast by Courtlight which, for me at least, is good but moving slowly.
Ivete wrote: "Hi all am reading "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck."One of my favorite books of all time! Hope you enjoy it :)
Almost done with Pretties. It's Meh...I have a ton of books from the library to read. I haven't decided which to start tomorrow.
Barbara wrote: "I just finished Lucky by Alice Sebold... I am getting back to the Vampire Diaries...."OH me too! I started The Fury a couple of days ago.
Finished The Perils of Pursuing a Prince - the poor prince was pursued to his peril (and that's really too much alliteration). I only finished it because I have it in two challenges, but am so glad I picked up a used copy. The sad story here is that The Dangers of Deceiving a Viscount is in the same challenge, but it can't be as bad, right?! Guess I'll find out!
I just went to my library website and realized The Lost Symbol is due Tuesday. Looks like Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch is going to have to wait. I'll start The Lost Symbol tonight.

BJ Rose, I started it last night and so far I like it. I will likely read it right after I finish The Lost Symbol.
Jackie wrote: "I'm halfway through Poison Study. It's very good so far."I'm only 2 chapters in, but I like it so far, and I don't usually like 1st-person books.

I loved that book! I just read it a couple months ago (or so). I liked the whole trilogy, though the first is still my favorite by far!
I'm currently reading Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson. It's amazingly inventive! Many say his 'gift' is creating new magic systems and I must say that I agree (though this is the first book of his I've read). In this book he has 'biochromatic' magic, realated to color and breath (which is almost but not quite equated with a soul). My favorite aspect is the royal family has a distinctive feature: their hair. It changes colors with their moods, or if they are in control of their emotions they can change it on purpose or prevent it from changing. I'm sure I'll be reading another romance novel on the side before I'm done with this one! I usually have multiple books going on at once.
Oh, that sounds interesting. Hopefully, he has other aspects to recommend him besides the magic system too. LOL. Melanie Rawn is another fantasy author who crafted an interesting magic system in her Dragon series.
I was going to read Lover Enshrined by J.R. Ward, but I decided that I am going to space out the last two books between now and May 2010. LOL Now, I'm in the middle of deciding between four different books. (sigh) :( So for once I am not reading anything.
Finished Poison Study and loved it - now have to wait for Magic Study from the library. Now reading Rapture
BJ Rose wrote: "Finished Poison Study and loved it - now have to wait for Magic Study from the library. Now reading Rapture"I moved onto Magic Study last night. My library didn't have it so I ended up buying it. I only read 2 chapters, but so far it's pretty good.
I also finished Mine Till Midnight in preparation for this month's reading.
I just moved onto Venture: Clan Novel by Gherbod Fleming last night, so far I'm liking it as I did with the previous clan novels. Still not so patiently waiting for Water for Elephants to grace my mailbox with it's presence.

I have Water For Elephants but haven't read it yet. Just finishing White Garden by Stephanie Barron. It's quite good. Takes place in England - regarding Virginia Woolf.
I've recently turned into a seasonal reader, to a degree. Now that it's getting colder (Princeton, NJ), I picked up Jack London's, "White Fang". His novels of Alaskan/Arctic ventures are great reading just after a warm homemade stew.
I just started Dark Lover by J.R. Ward...first in the Black Daggar Brotherhood series. I've been very anxious to start this series because of heard so much about it here on Goodreads. Should be a really good series.

Hope you enjoy.

Enjoy! The first book was my least favorite out of the series so far. If you aren't crazy about Dark Lover you should still read the 2nd book, because the series gets REALLY good!
