SOLVED. YA - girl has important dreams, trouble sleeping, may run in family [s]

i started this book around 2008/2009/2010 and never finished it.

this girl lived in this town, and she starts having these dreams (POSSIBLY!!!! after getting, like, a necklace or reaching a certain age but im not sure) and since she is having trouble sleeping she gets medicine that helps her sleep. she doesn't think her grandma/aunt(i don't remember which one) would mind because her grandma/aunt has a lot of medicine that helps her sleep. so the girl tells her grandma/aunt and the grandma/aunt freaks out asking her "are you still getting those dreams?" and the girl says "no the dreams stopped when i started taking the medicine" and the grandma/aunt tells the girl she needs to stop taking the sleep medicine because she needs to have these dreams.
