I like to read at night in bed. Many nights I will read from 10-12 pm. That's when I get the bulk of my reading done.
If I don't have classes in the morning, almost always from after 12am to 8am, in bed. Or if I do have morning schedule, from 6/7pm to 3/4am, most of the time on my favorite rocking chair and then in bed. Many a times I race through pages in an overcrowded bus in the infamous traffic of my city while going to or from work.... Its a GREAT way to fly the time without caring even a bit to the suffocating crowd, unbearable heat or the unmoving traffic!
I like to escape to my car to relax for an hour at lunch, away from phones and deadlines. The quiet is great for reading and nobody looks at me oddly if I laugh out loud at something. And I almost always read for awhile in bed before going to sleep.

I do like to curl up in my recliner and read, but, lately, College has taken precedence and the kindle's been waiting for the next ride to work.

It's much better than sitting inside where people constantly talk to me. It's also the only time I definitely get to read my paper or ebook.
Sometimes I catch another 30 minutes or so with it when I get home from work & the same before bed. One or both of the home reading times can taken up by magazines or a nonfiction book, if I have a separate one, though.
I listen to my audio book while driving or doing mindless chores at home. I try to keep fiction books of different genres, but don't always manage it.
At work, during boring board room meetings, in parties where ladies around are bitching about something, in pubs where the buddies are shop talking without focusing on getting drunk, when I am dragged to do the grocery shopping, WHENEVER I am asked to do chores it's "Status Reading". P.S - Never Reading ... when I have interesting conversation going on or IF I have zeroed in on a target to play the "Villain of the Piece".
I mostly read at night. The problem with that is, I'm at a good part in the story I can't stop and there goes my good night sleep.I'm like a few others here. I listen to my audio books in the car, grocery shopping and the other mundane chores around the house.
I read anywhere and everywhere. Before having kids I used to be able to lounge on the couch for hours just reading and sipping coffee...no longer. Now, I read in bank lineups, in the dentist's waiting room...whenever I get a few minutes! Having a book or my ereader on me at all times is a key part of this plan (and I have kindle and kobo apps on my phone, so I read on my phone if I have to). I listen to audiobooks in my car en route to work. My first choice is to read in bed at night...as long as I can stay awake! {Sigh}
The little monsters do change your lifestyle, don't they, Kim? One of the greatest joys is sharing books with them, although my book collection still isn't safe even though all the little boogers live in other states.;-)
They all own their own homes, have good relationships, & good jobs, so I did mine well. I wasn't easy on them, though. All of them will tell you I engendered a love of reading in them, too. A little too much since they still borrow books & aren't great about mailing them back.:)

My daughter likes to read. My sun is getting into it (at 6 he's a developing reader so he's not ready to dive into books by himself yet). My daughter was excited about reading "A Dolphin Tale" then watching the movie (on DvD). It helped her visualize what she was reading better. She'd still rather dance and be with her friends but... she's an 8 year old girl... and, she likes reading when nobody tells her too...(yeah).
She was at the doctor for a regular "well child" check up and cracked me and my wife up.
Doctor: "Do you read."
Gabi: "Oh, yes, I even sneak and read at night," then she looked at us, "but I guess that was a stupid to say."
(If her big sin is reading after she's put to bed, she's not going to get much fuss from me :) )

At 4 and 6, my girls love to take books to bed with them. I often find them surrounded by books when I go to check on them at night. Even my 2 year old son likes to walk around with books. I think that kids share in the things we love if we make an effort to share with them.

My 8 year old is a big-time reader, too, which warms my heart to no end. I have to wrestle the book out of his hands at night and make him turn out the light. Creates no small amount of internal conflict in me, of course, as I TOTALLY GET IT.
great question!i have a book by my bed, in my car, and plenty on my ipad - i mostly read at night or while waiting to pick up kids from practice...

The Matthew Reilly audiobooks are well done. I especially love the audiobooks versions of Ben Aaronovitch's peter grant series as well as Tana French's.

They're the best and most fitting matches of reader and material I ever ran across.
I do most of my reading in bed. It surely puts me to sleep. Also, I have to have quiet. Cannot read with a bunch of noise.

The Jack Reacher series by Lee Child, Monster Hunter International series by Larry Correia and Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.
Thanks Eileen, I got the years membership with the 24 credits for books so am really looking forward to getting some good ones. I appreciate the suggestions.I scrapped the old Samsung player that didn't work with audible and purchased a Samsung 3 - 8 inch tablet. It is the perfect size for reading ebooks and also works with audible (Thank goodness).

Sorry, back to the subject, I usually read from 7 to 10 pm. after dinner. I stretch out on the couch and just lay there enjoying the book or two of the week. I don't watch very much tv as I find books much more interesting. Plus, everytime I find a tv show I like, they cancel it. So I just gave up on tv basically. Can't read at work since lunch is only 1/2 hour and not enough time.
This is one of those love-it-or-hate-it books:
The Rabbit Factory
by Marshall Karp is a Hiaasenesque murder mystery set in a very thinly disguised Disneyland. It's the first of a series. The audiobook narrated by Tom Stechschulte and James Jenner is one of the better two-handers I've listened to; both narrators are well-suited to their parts. (Stechschulte also did Lawrence Block's
A Drop of the Hard Stuff
, not a bad choice if you're into the Matthew Scudder series (I'm not especially)).

Either way it's at the McDonald's right by my work. It has an outdoor area with covering and is beautiful, surprisingly, usually nice.
I'm ridiculously silly about reading spots.
I love reading on my chair at the house. I don't have a fireplace but my mother bought me an electronic one for christmas so I turn that on for the light effect. I also sit on the chair - that doesn't have a recliner (ugh) - so I move another chair in front of it to prop my legs up. My cat promptly follows. I have a tall reading lamp by the chair. A lot of the time, since I like reading to rain, I put on rainymood.com and listen to the rain and storm when reading. I can't help it, I'm an atmosphere person.
I have a small porch as well I love reading on when the cat hasn't torn the screen yet again to let the mosquitoes in. Also, as long as it's not too hot since I live in Florida.
I love reading in the bath and even bought a bath pillow that, honestly, has lasted a long time and didn't turn out a bad buy at all. I love it. I have a 'special buy' (can get from walmart too) bubble bath I adore for these moods. Anymore though I mainly take showers, but when the mood hits, it works.
I do read in the bed too. I found a new, fun tradition. I like to put some old TV shows on the TV in the background, turn on the reading lamp by my bed and read/relax.
Between working a full-time job, writing books, and raising two little girls, my reading opportunities are severely limited. Pretty much the only time I read is in the bathroom. Yep, some people take a magazine with them ... I take a Kindle. (And yes, I admit it, I have faked needing to use the bathroom just to get some reading done.)

My favorite is definitely in the bath. The problem is I sometimes fall asleep so there are some books I can't read in the bath - like library books. I recently got a waterproof case for my iPad so eBooks are now a favorite!

Great question! (Interesting to read about other addicts habits...)Everywhere I can. On my phone at work: in lectures, at all hours of the night, walking along the street - sometimes ends up in me walking into things but it's worth it.
On my kindle: in bed, a comfortable chair, on the train to work. Hell I'd read in the car on my own if I didn't have to steer. (Bring on Google cars!)
I tend to read every day at lunch while at work. Prior jobs, i would get in my car and drive to a park nearby and eat in my car but since i moved to where i am now, i get half as long for lunch and no parks. so i sit at my desk and shut the door in my office and read for half an hour or so. i have two kids, so i will read while they play if not doing stuff around the house. i tend to finish most books this way in a week or so.
When I haven't burned myself out on books I will read all day every day. Of course that leads to my burn outs and when that happens, such as now, I will mainly listen to audiobooks before bed.I read a lot of books and I love reading challenges here at GR, so that lends to a lot of binge reading. In April I completed 52 books and I ended up reading 84 in an 8 week time frame. I found out that when I hit around 70 books in 6 weeks I'm just burned out. So I tend to stay away from reading a lot for a while. :)
When I'm reading for challenges I'll read literally all day, hanging out on my recliner. I don't go anywhere or do anything, so I have a lot of time for reading. :) When I'm burned out on books, then I spend all that time gaming (Skyrim currently) and read some of a Kindle book at night before listening to my audiobook until I fall asleep.
I read whenever I have time. For me, there is no fixed time or place to read! I read just because I love reading!
I read for an hour every day at lunchtime during work, unless I eat out with friends. I used to read at all different times, but the 8-5 job has really put a crimp on my free time. Making lunchtime a reading habit has been a godsend for keeping my reading progress steady.If I can't help myself, I'll read at night before bed as well, or even in the morning during breakfast. If the book is really that amazing and it's a slow day, I might even sneak it during work......but it has to be an especially grippy book for that to happen. -_-;;
Like Mark, at answer #30, I do a lot of my reading in the bathroom. I live alone, so I don't have to fake needing to go (yeah!). I also recently downloaded a Kindle reader onto my computer, so, I am reading there now, also.
lol, with the seat lid down? I used to read on the pot when I was young, but I got tired of the toilet imprint around my bum. That and leaning forward for too long eventually cuts the circulation off in my legs. :P
In bed, at work, in the cafe, in the car when I m waiting for someone or when I m too early for work, in the beach, waiting rooms... basically when I feel like reading no matter where I am.

I mostly read at night before I fall asleep. But I do take my book everywhere so a page here and there wherever I am. I do read slow so I can visualize what I'm reading unless it's dragging a bit over too much technical jargon, thus I'll plough through.
Pretty much wherever. Although I can't quite make myself read off the kindle app on my iPhone. It's just too small and I read way too fast...
I read my kindle and paper books before bed, but I whip through a lot of audiobooks while I'm doing yard and house work. I also have to do long drives quite frequently. Listening to a good book really helps pass the time and quell any road rage that might crop up, lol!
Paper copies are preferred, but are not always easy to get in Mexico. So I do about half of my reading these days on the iPad. I don't do audiobooks precisely because they are performances; I don't want someone else interpreting the text for me.As to location: I don't have a car here in Querétaro, so I do a lot of reading on city buses! Also in coffee shops (where I also teach most of my private English lessons) and at home, especially before bedtime. My dog and three cats take a great interest in my reading at home.

Anywhere and everywhere. Now i have my phone and kindle i can fill all those unproductive times like driving, washing up and making diner with audiobooks.
I'm a physical book kind of person. I have one whenever I leave the house. I have found myself reading everywhere and turning on others to reading. I gave a lot of books for gifts this year; friends, family, and coworkers. I really dig the looks of joy when I made a connection with what I chose. May everyone find a way to dig the power of love rather than the love of power. This can begin with a book. Peace Love and happiness for destination 2021...

I understand there are some folks here who absolutely plough through the books, just wanted to get an idea of when and where do you read the most?
e.g. for me its on the daily work commute and sometimes on a weekend morning having a coffee
