Super good random: I had a job interview today for an HR Specialist.

Even better random: They want me to come back at the end of the week for a second interview. Oh! And I have a phone interview for another HR position on Friday. :)

Bad Random: It's 39 degrees outside and we're supposed to get up to an inch of snow tonight. Seriously Winter, you're sooooo last season. Bright side - it's only going to be yucky for a couple of days before the weather warms back up.

Tara Awesome! Good luck with the Girl Scouts. They offered me a position and then took it back saying they weren't filling that position anymore. :(. That was sometime last year.

Really? I knew you had received an offer. I don't remember you telling me that they took the position back. I wonder if they had someone internal that they decided to go with instead. That's really crappy though. Or maybe they had a hiring freeze. That happened here with the CAC position after Erica left. They interviewed and had chosen a candidate, then were told no hiring for the next six months.

Jencey/ (jencey) | 754 comments Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Mom gets out of the hospital tomorrow morning. She seems to be steadily improving. We have a helper coming. Only bad random of the day is that dad didn't tell me his whole schedule and I had to find someone to give the poor dog a break. She otherwise wouldn't get a potty break until 9pm tonight. Just checking in!

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Wooooo! Congrats on the interview and welcome to the joys of HR :) I fluxuate between being called an HR Administrator, Specialist, Coordinator or Generalist. I'll know your pain well :) :) :)

New York was so much fun!! I didn't get any reading done though so I have a lot of catching up to do. I'm 3 books behind on my Goodreads challenge and haven't finished a book for the quarter challenge! Yikes!

Now this weekend we are off to San Francisco. Wheee!!

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments Stacy, I watch Game of Thrones yesterday and OMG WHAT IN THE WORLD to last night's episode. How crazy. I was shocked...can't believe that happened! I wonder what's in store for the rest of the season.

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments And congrats on the interviews, Stacy! You'll have to keep us posted. :) One of my debate coaches from college works for the Girl Scouts now, and I believe she really likes it!

Kourtney, glad NY was fun!! What all did you do while you where there? I heard about this one bar where the price of drinks go up and down based on the DOW. Hahaha! I think that is so freaking cool and totally need to check it out next time I'm in NY. I'll be sure to wait for the DOW to go down, though! Haha.

Sounds like a lot of fun, and a good reason to not get any reading done! :)

I'm right there with you - 3 behind on my GR challenge too. I'm hoping I'll be able to catch up and get ahead over the summer once everything has calmed down.

I was WAY happy about the end of that episode! I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I'm going to PM you. I have a theory....

We have a bar called the Kalamazoo Beer Exchange and the prices for the beer fluctuate based on stocks or the DOW or something. It's pretty interesting. And they have the best burgers!

I think it was The Huffington Post (maybe) that did an article (maybe it was the Travel Channel) about the top 20 theme bars in the US and the Beer Exchange is on it. :)

Good Random - 2nd interview is scheduled

Bad Random - my bf's dad is in the hospital because he wasn't feeling great and has an irregular heartbeat. They're going to do an echo on him tomorrow, but he's there overnight tonight and tomorrow night. On top of that, I have to stop by a new daycare right after work because the ex can't be bothered to, I have to pick up some laminated prints from Kikos, sorry, Fed-Ex Office. I have to take my car back to Auto Zone and tell them to find a battery that actually fits the connectors for my car, go somewhere to find another suit jacket for the second interview, and stop at the store. And, either today or tomorrow, my bf and I are supposed to "go shopping" with the contractor. Both the phone interview and the second interview are on Friday. Holy crap, can this week please get over with? Or actually, the next four weeks or so? Too much going on.

Dang, Stacy, sorry you have to deal with all that. And I hope your boyfriend's dad is okay.

Good random: GOOD FRIDAY IN TWO DAYS!! I have a short work week and plan on sleeping in every day this weekend. Other than Easter, because I'll probably go meet up with my family. You know what's crazy? For lent this year I gave up worrying. Which I wasn't incredibly good at, haha, but it was nice telling myself to stop worrying. And I feel like lent started yesterday. Nope, it was almost 40 days ago. WHERE DOES TIME GO?!?!?!

message 322: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Good Random: Half day tomorrow as the bf and I jet off to SAN FRANCISCO for the weekend. Love getting away from it all!

Bad random: Lent should have ended Sunday as if you count it out the 40th day was Palm Sunday. Some say we go until Good Friday?!? WHAT IS THIS?!?! I didn't sign up for 45 days! I WANT TO GO SHOPPING!!!

message 323: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
All you people that don't work in the world of retail - you're lucky! I have to work tomorrow. And that just made me realize that the places I have interviews with are open tomorrow as well. Ugh. Oh well, I'm sure they actually have holiday pay for the holidays they ARE closed.

Giving up worrying is a good idea, Bianca. But hard. I feel like I stress too much, and it doesn't really feel like little stuff. I have learned to let A LOT go over the years. Otherwise, I think I'd be in a mental hospital by now. :)

Kourtney - I'm totally jealous of all your trips. Have a great time!!! Giving up shopping for Lent is another good idea. Not sure I could do that one either, I buy too much crap for my kid. :)

I'm not religious in any way, but I play along with the Lent thing from time to time. Didn't do it this year, but in the past, I've given up chocolate (I know, crazy - probably didn't last long) and soda. Those seem to be the favorites for me to try to resist. Though, the soda thing isn't so hard to resist anymore as I hardly ever drink it anymore.

I don't have any randoms right now, but that could always change. :)

Waiting to hear about Greg's dad. They were going to do the echo yesterday but decided it wasn't that dire and are doing it this morning. Hopefully everything will be ok in the end.

Jencey/ (jencey) | 754 comments Well hello everyone and here is the update! Stacy good luck in your interviews. I worked retail a while ago. I hope you are able to move on up. Kourtney safe travel wishes!

Mom came home from the hospital Tuesday. She has had to be by herself because neither dad nor I could miss work. One of her friends arrived last night to help out. We will hopefully redefine what means to do nothing!

I don't celebrate Lent. I am protestant. I maybe catching Easter at home this year. A live webcast of the service. I have to work Saturday.

Jencey - that's great to hear! How's your dad?

Ok, I have my randoms.

Good Random - going "shopping" with our contractor tomorrow night.

Bad Random - I have to make notes on everything I do to help out my boss when I finally get another job. I don't mind doing it, but holy cow, that's a lot of stuff to type up. I know I always gripe about how bored I am, so you wouldn't think there'd be a lot, but being in this position for 11 years has helped me get everything down to a fine science so that it only takes a few minutes for me to do different things. I can't say I have any one task that takes me longer than 20 minutes (if that) to do, and most of them are not a daily thing (now you see why I'm so bored all the time).

So yes, typing all of it up, step by step....GAH!!!!

So, both interviews in the bag.

Second interview went really well I think. I'll know next week.

And the phone interview...those are harder to judge. I got a lot of "excellent" responses to my answers. They did like the fact that I had prior experience with the payroll software that they just converted to. But I'll know if I made it to the next round with them next week as well.

I got it! :)

They want me to start two weeks from today, not sure yet if I can do that. I'm trying to give my boss as much time as possible to get someone in place, be it a temp or whomever, so I can help train for a couple days before I go. So it'll be sometime between the 6th and the 12th.

Now I really need to finish typing up that information about how to do the things I do!
