AHS is probably something I can watch with my bf, I think he'd like it too. He finally got me caught up on Game of Thrones. Not something I would watch normally, but since he really likes it, I decided to give it a try. Once you get past the first few episodes (a TON of character building), it gets pretty interesting and a lot of things happen that you just don't see coming. I think I have to admit that I'm looking forward to season four starting soon. And....I actually want to read the books. But don't tell him I said any of this. LOL! I'm trying to maintain the "I'm only watching it because of you" air in front of him. :) Oh, and for the longest time, I had a hard time remembering what it was called, so I kept calling it The Dirty People show. No, not dirty because of all the sex in it, dirty because it looks to me like it's set in mid-evil times and they didn't bathe often back then.

Haven't seen that movie yet, but I plan to soon. I hope. LOL! I might be able to get him to sit down and watch it with me since I watched his Game of Thrones show. LOL

The electrician came yesterday, for about two hours. *sigh* All he did was run the venting duct from the exhaust fan to the vent on the side of the house. Am I ever going to have a working exhaust fan in my bathroom? He's supposedly coming back on Wednesday during the day. Again, not holding my breath.

One of the contractors that was supposed to come out tonight to give an estimate called yesterday to reschedule for Thursday. GRRR!!!! On top of that, the original contractor that said he would call me Friday with some numbers? Yeah, haven't heard from him. :/

Ok, it's time I speak out against bullying.

I am a victim. I am being bullied by Winter and I would like it to stop. Winter has been trying to bury me for months with hateful snow. Just when I think Winter is going to get bored and leave me alone, I get hit with eight more inches of snow. I think the fact that I live in Michigan is part of what causes Winter to be so mean. If I could move and get away from Winter, I would. But I'm stuck here with this bullying and I'm wondering what authorities I can report this to....

Yeah, yeah. LOL

My neighbor snowblowed (snowblew?) my driveway for me yesterday. :) That was SO nice! I tried to give him some money but he wouldn't take it. And, by the time I got home from work, about half of what we'd gotten was melted, thankfully. Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the low 40's (heat wave!) after being 0 degrees when I got up this morning (WTF? It's MARCH!!!), so that should help more of it to melt off.

Oh, let's see, where are we in the world of home remodeling? Last night's contractor? After calling on Sunday to confirm the appointment, they called on Tuesday night to say they weren't sure if they'd be able to do the whole project - they don't really do basement rooms. Why did the guy at the trade expo say they do then? UGH!!! Anyway, the appointment was for 6pm last night. That time comes and goes. 6:10 comes and goes, 6:15 comes and goes. Finally, Greg's phone rings at 6:20. They have to reschedule because one guy can't make it and they don't want us sitting around waiting for them. Um, like we haven't been already for 20 flippin' minutes?! I'm now done with them. Greg went ahead and rescheduled, but we're going to call them and tell them to forget it.

Never heard back from the original guy, even after I texted him on Monday asking for the estimate by Wednesday. So now we're basically 0 for 2 on contractors.

Have another appointment tonight that was originally supposed to be Monday night. If they show up, they have the job. I'm so done with this.

Electrician did not make it back out yesterday, surprise, surprise, because of the snow. Called me last night and left a message on my phone for Greg getting his days all mixed up and not making a whole lot of sense. I think we figured out that he said he was going to try to come today and would call Greg about it. I doubt he's heard anything from him. It'll probably be another month before the exhaust fan gets fully installed.

On a happier note - I get to meet Jane Green next month!! She's going to be at a bookstore in Naperville, IL and Tara and I will be meeting Suzanne there. I pre-ordered the book through them online and got the first place in line!!! Never had that happen before!

Another thought - would anyone be interested in doing some kind of weight loss challenge as a group? I lost 69 pounds between November 2012 and April 2013 and have sadly gained back 47 of them (damn you holiday Reese's!!!!!). My wardrobe malfunction (that's all I'm saying, not going further into it) this morning was a real eye opener as my "fat" jeans became my "sausage" jeans. I need to do something, and I feel like I'd do a whole lot better being part of a group challenge or something. Plus, I have a 5K coming up on May 31st that I need to start training for.

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone interested?

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Hi ladies!! Ok I know I have been MIA for quite some time with promises of doing challenges again...and I am remiss because I have slowed down on my reading as I am rarely home anymore, but I have been lurking and something has been bothering me. This seems like the perfect thread to hear others thoughts on this...

Twitter. I don't know how many of you are active on Twitter...or even Facebook. Any type of social media! Do you find that following your favorite authors has changed your opinion on the author? I follow a lot of my favorite authors on Twitter. A couple of them have even requested to follow me. One in particular (who was an RDI author so it hurt so much) even started following me. She replied to one of my tweets (FAN GIRL!) and then promptly unfollowed me. Um...what did I do?! Not even a goodbye? As silly as it sounds I don't really want to read anymore of her books. Another author (I don't want to say who but you might know if you follow) talks freely about her depression and seeks acceptance and group therapy from her followers. I am hesitant to read any of her other books now. And a YA author is constantly tweeting just utter nonsense when she's bored...yup you guessed it. I have no desire to read any of her books (even though they are on my shelf). On the flip side, Jennifer Weiner has me as a superfan ever since she started live tweeting The Bachelor.

Has anyone else ever felt this way?

BIANCA I am in love with American Horror Story I just finished first season last weekend and I hope to watch all of season 2 this weekend. It's my new favorite. I am watching it on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Welcome back KOURTNEY xoxo I am interested in the Weight Loss challenge I was down over 60 pounds 4 years ago and have gained it all back plus a few and I have a wedding in November that I am MOH in and the fattest girl so I would love some help and motivation. THERE you are Kourtney! Geez! I see, you get a boyfriend and you dump the group. ;) Kidding, kidding. I'm happy that you're happy!

Can't say I've had that problem with any of the authors that I follow. Then again, I don't really use Twitter either. I think I have it linked to Goodreads, and I might jump on there every now and then. But other than that, not much of a follower. That's really disappointing to read though, makes me kinda not want to follow any new authors on Facebook, just in case.

Julie - LOL, ugh! I could really do without all this crap! We finally had a contractor show up last night, but they want to charge us an arm and a leg for the whole thing. They came down a little on the total cost, but we're going to try to get them to come down more. If not, we have two other appointments scheduled and three more places/people to contact. It'll get done. Eventually. Even if I have to do it myself! :)

Dawn - Grandma got to come home on Tuesday. But I guess she's been sleeping most of the time. She used to be on a blood thinner and two water pills (to prevent congestive heart failure), but they took her off the blood thinner and one of the water pills (I thought it was the other way around, but I was wrong), so her heart is now working harder to pump the blood, plus she has less protection against fluid around her heart. So I guess it's just a matter of time. I talked to my mom last night and she said that since my Grandma is sleeping a lot and has gone back to her Jazzy chair (motorized scooter thing) instead of using her walker, she's just going to get super weak again, and she doesn't know what's going to happen. If her heart will just give out, or if she's going to wind up back in the hospital. And I guess she's been crying a lot, which my mom said she never saw her cry but twice in her whole life. So my mom thinks my grandma is scared, which I'm sure she is. I wish there was something I could do to help. But at this point, honestly, we're all hoping her heart just gives out while she's sleeping. Since she elected to do nothing about the cancer, that's her best, and most peaceful (and hopefully least painful) way to go.

Regarding the weight loss thing, sure, seems like we have enough people that are interested. I'll start a new thread for it. :)

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments Julie - That's HILARIOUS!!!! I just shared that with people at work...seriously would be a much better idea to do daylights savings on a Friday afternoon. Haha. But I do enjoy "fall back" an hour on Saturday night...one more hour of sleep! Last year I was on a cruise when it happened and I was so happy to have an hour longer of a trip. :)

Stacy - Totally down for a fitness group!! Before I went on the cruise I mentioned above I was so good about working out every day and eating healthy small meals throughout the day. But now that I'm back and it's been cold I haven't had motivation. Haha. But yes, I love that idea!

Kourtney - Yay glad to have you back!! I haven't had that experience but I don't follow too many authors other than my absolute favorites. I do understand how frustrating that would be, though. Ugh.

Dawn - YES! Glad to have another American Horror Story fan. :) I watched the first season in one weekend...the second the weekend after. But season three isn't on Netflix so I haven't seen it yet. It's such an addicting show!!!

So, ok, only I can do this.

Greg made chicken quesadillas last night. I hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch (ate some frozen pizza and popcorn around 2pm finally) so I was pretty hungry by the time dinnertime rolled around. He hands me my plate (yes, he serves me my food even though I tell him all the time that he doesn't have to, lol) and I take a tentative bite due to it being hot. Hmmm....not too bad. Ok, I'll take a bigger bite.

Wrong thing to do.

A piece of chicken comes out of the part that I'm pulling away from my mouth and flops down on my bottom lip. Instant, searing/burning pain. I spit my food on my plate and tears are forming in my eyes. Yup, I burned the hell out of my lip. Instant blistering almost the size of a dime. Seriously? Only me. SHM, LOL

Kourtney - I follow a lot of authors on Twitter but I don't really talk to any of them. Sometimes they respond to my tweets, which I think is really cool! I actually did hear from one RDI author who was SO sweet and made me like her even more. :) I haven't had any bad experiences, but I will admit, I don't particularly like hearing when authors are struggling with their books or they tweet stuff like "this book sucks" (not those exact words). Believe, as someone who has been attempting to write a novel for YEARS, I know it's a struggle! But I guess I don't want to hear too much about that?! Yet I also like knowing they are human just like the rest of us. :) I don't know!

I know what you're saying, Julie. At the same time, it someone compels me to want to read the other books since they're supposed to be the "greatest of all time," or whatever. Then again, there are some on there that I just know I can't do. Usually any kind of historical or Western just does not interest me. And most sci-fi doesn't either.

I agree with you both - I read what interests me. But I do like these lists because they give me ideas for what to add to my reading list.

Also, what makes a book a "classic?" And a movie too, for that matter. I always hear "oh that book/movie is a classic" and I wonder what made them become that way.

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments Random thought for today: allergies SUCK!!!! I always randomly get awful allergies, especially when the seasons change. Yesterday I thought I was going to rip out my eyeballs because they were SO itchy, and I thought my nose was going to fall off from watering so much. Haha. I don't think I'm allergic to any type of food or animals...I think it's just something in the air.

My little brother went to an allergist where they poked a bunch of needs in his back to see what he is allergic to. Umm...he is allergic to everything. Afterwards his back was all itchy and irritated and red for the rest of the day. Ahhh! I need to schedule an appointment, but the website said to reserve 2.5 hours for your appointment. And I never have time to go do that. In the meantime, hello Zirtec and Dayquil! Haha.

Is anyone else going crazy right now from allergies?
