Julie Poor little sweetie.....I know you're exhausted now, but trust me, when they're all grown up you will miss this kind of stuff.

My "babies" are now 23 & 20 and they don't need me like they used to. My consolation is that I have a beautiful grandson that is 1 1/2 so I get to enjoy this sort of thing all over again!

Jencey/ (jencey) | 754 comments Hi Ladies! Kourtney that is awful! I hope she gets better soon! I recently experienced moving around my TBR. I am trying to lighten it. I have finished chemo and tomorrow celebrate both the end of chemo and my birthday. I hope to talk to the surgeon next week about my upcoming surgery. I am trying to find out if details have changed. Have a great weekend!

She's probably going to get a lot of stuff being at daycare. Not all parents follow the rules and keep their children home until they're no longer contagious. When Morgan was little, she got sick a lot until she had to have tubes put in her ears (twice) and had her adenoid & tonsils removed. Then that part of getting sick got better. But then she'd get a bladder infection every few months. It was bad enough at one point when she was around four, that she went to a specialist to have her kidneys looked at. Didn't find much other than one is slightly bigger than the other. And then, the infections happened less and less. It's finally been over six months (almost a year) since her last one. I think she is starting to grow out of them or something.

I know exactly what you're saying. I was shopping last weekend with some friends, and one has two little girls. It really made me miss shopping for Morgan when she was little. All the cute, frilly, little girl clothes. I said I wanted to adopt a baby girl so I can do it all over again.

And lil nugget seems to be getting better slowly. Still lots of congestion and now mommy is sick too! YAY! Last weekend before I go back to work and my head is a bowling ball. But that means daddy is on duty and mommy is in bed READING! :)

I also have a little one in daycare. She is almost three now and started daycare when she was 8-9 months old. That first year is really the worst in terms of them getting sick all the time. I also ended up getting ear tubes for my daughter, and that definitely helped. And their immunity builds over time. My pediatrician told me there is no way around the sickness issue. Once they are with other kids they get sick. So either it happens when you put them into daycare, or it happens when they start pre-school, or it happens when they start regular school. I know when your kid is sick it's miserable (for both of you), but it does get better (eventually), so hang in there!

Jencey/ (jencey) | 754 comments Stacy-Yes it did end up being a good time. I getting prepared for surgery so the hope is to get a lot of reading done in the next month. I will be having two surgeries a mastectomy and one on my neck to remove a mass. I am not convinced that it is cancer considering that NONE and I mean NONE of the tests that I have had done say that the tissue is cancerous. My surgeon for my neck tried to tell me that I have had cancer for 15 years just because she couldn't get any records from my 2001 surgery. The more interesting part of this appointment is when she had me take a pregancy test. I wanted to say come on! I have had 8 rounds of chemo. I have no husband so I have imaculately conceived a baby? I protested and the surgeon told me this is required. So I went to the lab and told the lady drawing my blood that I am here to prove that I have not imaculately conceived a child. I will get a new surgeon after this surgery if need be.

message 1013: by Julie (new)

Julie Oh my gosh Jencey.....what a hassle. I agree with you about getting a new surgeon after this surgery. Your doctors are supposed to work with you to try & reassure you, make you feel better, help you on your road to recovery.....not argue with you and irritate you.

message 1014: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) | 754 comments Thanks Julie! I am back from surgery. It is official: NO CANCER IN THE NECK! I got the official report from the surgeon yesterday. I still haven't heard anything on pathology for the breast. I have two lovely drains that are keeping me company until next week and then we got to Florida.

message 1015: by Julie (new)

Julie Yay! That is wonderful news.....and about time you had some! Florida sounds like it will be a nice reprieve. My family & I were just there on vacation from 10/17-10/24 and we all had a fabulous time!

That is awesome Jencey! I am so happy for your good news. The blood test would've been ridiculously annoying, but they have their procedures they have to follow. It's like when they have to ask you if you feel safe in your own home before they'll let you go home after any kind of procedure.

There's a kind of funny story behind that. I was never asked that until I had my daughter. Of course, I've been asked every time I have anything done now, but that was the first time and my initial thought was, "Do they know that my husband can be a dick?" LOL I have more colorful words for him now, but I won't get into that.

Yeah, my doctor's office now asks a ton of questions, and some of them get pretty damn personal - how many partners and anal? I feel like those answers are my private information, but then again, it IS my doctor's office, so if anyone other than me should know, I guess it should be them....

Jencey/ (jencey) | 754 comments Okay! Good morning! Here is the best news. I got the pathology back on my breast. The surgeon said that they got all the cancer out! She had to remove four lymph nodes that tested positive. So now onto radiation. I am currently in Florida relaxing. I hope that everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Julie I did absolutely nothing! It was awesome!

My sweetie went to the coast for a long weekend with his buddies (I go down to join them tomorrow), and my son & stepson went to their uncle's house to dogsit overnight, so I had the house all to myself.

I curled up on the couch with my doggies, a warm blanket, junk food, and a good book!

What did you do?

Jencey, that is awesome! I am so happy for you! Here's hoping recovery has gone well for you.

For New Year's, we were all supposed to play board games and card games, but my BF decided he was going to get sick and ended up going to bed before 10. So the kids and I continued to play games. At one point, I remembered to check the time and it was 12:07am. We missed the ball dropping. :( It made me kind of sad, and I felt a little gypped. I haven't missed a ball drop since I was a little kid. But, I was having fun with the kids, so I guess that's all that matters. And the BF was better the next day. It was either one of those 24 hour things, or food poisoning. But he was the only one to get sick, so I'm inclined to think it was the latter.

message 1041: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 767 comments I am in a major reading slump. :( I've started 3 or 4 different books (all really good ones) and I can't get into any of them or stay focused past the first couple chapters. Uggggh. :( I don't know if it's because I'm so busy and stressed, or what. Usually I can get out of a slump pretty easily by reading a fun YA book or something, but not this time. What do you guys like to do to get out of slumps?

message 1042: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments I will actually do anything but read when I hit a slump like that. I have tried to power through and continue reading, but then I give books a lot of 1 star ratings. So I stop reading (and then will go back and re-read the book if it was halfway decent). I watch TV. I do logic puzzles. I play with my dogs. Now there are adult coloring books (no shame here - I used to buy kid coloring books and would color those before it became fashionable to color!) do ANYTHING but read! Then one day you'll feel the call again and will find the want to pick up a book and read!

message 1043: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 767 comments Kourtney - That is a really good idea and something I never even considered. I think I will do that! I actually have 2 adult coloring books. :) Thanks!

message 1044: by Jill (new)

Jill Pierson-Kennard | 36 comments Suzanne-Sometimes when I am in a slump, I pull out and re-read one of my favorite books. Maybe that will give you the jump start to finish or move on from the books you have started.

message 1045: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 767 comments Remember how I said I was in a major reading slump? A few hours after I posted that, I got laid off from my job. :( I can't help but think I somehow knew... I don't know. I am still in a reading slump. Haven't even looked at a book. Despite applying for jobs, having phone interviews and going to in person interviews, I still have some free time and I could be reading... and yet I don't want to read at all. :( This sucks! I have 2 job interviews this week that I'm really excited about and I just hope one of these works out.
