Awww! So sorry Julie. I know how you feel. It's hard when they get sick. I had one dog that I had for 15 years pass away in August of 2011 and we adopted another of the same breed that was an older dog and had to have him put down in August of 2013. It does get easier but I do think about them all the time. Thinking of you and your family at this difficult time. :(

message 752: by Julie (new)

Julie Thanks everyone for all the positive thoughts for our family.

Not sure my Malo will make it through Monday. Going to call the vet tomorrow morning first thing. I will most likely move it up. I know I'm doing the right thing for him, even though it's hard for me.....

This year isn't starting off on a great note, but on the other hand, just going to get better from here, right???

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Oh Julie my heart goes out to you! My Pomeranian had a stroke the week before Christmas and I know how worried I was with that. Having to put a dog down is always heartbreaking. But if your dog is in pain then it is the best thing no matter how hard. We are all here for you!

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Anyone have any new years resolutions?

I'm hoping to read as much as I can before the baby comes - now that I'm showing it's harder to move around as much. Lazy days here I come!

message 755: by Julie (new)

Julie Thanks Kourtney.....I appreciate your support

New Years Resolutions:
1. Manage my budget better
2. Get healthy (lose weight/exercise)
3. Read more (trying to hit 60 books this year)
4. Spend more time with friends/family

Dawn rizzi (dawnie278) | 378 comments Julie,
I am so sorry to hear about your Malo. I never had a dog but can only imagine the loss. Happy New Year everyone and I hope we all have a better year than last. If you setting up resolutions I hope you all stick to them. Mine are to quit smoking , loss weight and read more and to just be a better person all around.

Jill Pierson-Kennard | 36 comments My goals for this year- I never finish resolutions!
1. Work on getting my debt paid down
2. Continue on Weight Watchers to lose more weight
3. Balance work, parenting, and taking time for myself-I always say that I can be great at one of these, just not all 3 at the same time!

Sounds like a relaxing time.....well, as relaxing as could be, given the situation. I'm hoping I don't have to take too much time off. I'm thinking/hoping I can have it done on a Friday and be back to work Monday or Tuesday.

Good luck to everyone with your resolutions! I hardly ever do them because I never stick to them. But I did join a gym that opened up down the road a few days ago, and plan to go after work on Monday. We'll see where it goes from there.

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Stacy- you did use the correct pronoun :) she is doing better. It was caused by hypertension so now she has to go in for testing to see what is causing it.

Julie Our Malo is now at peace & is no longer suffering. The last thing he felt was all of us surrounding him & petting him, and the last thing he heard was all of us telling him that he was a good dog & that we loved him. It was what he deserved & what we wanted his last moments to be. There will never be another dog like him.....

So, so sad.....

Stacy- Just a heads up, I had to be released by a surgeon to go back to work. Most want you to wait a week minimum before heading back to work. You are not supposed to drive for 4-5 days and cannot lift anything that weighs more than a galloon of milk for a week.

Stacy- I hope you have a speedy recovery. I saw your email but haven't had a chance to respond.

New Year's Resolutions:

1. Finish paying off major debt.

2. Get a membership to a gym for more exercise.

3. Try The Doctor's Diet: Dr. Travis Stork's STAT Program to Help You Lose Weight & Restore Your Health- Maybe I will lose weight.

4. Go to a Dentist.

I am trying to stay reasonable. I hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments Happy new year, everyone!

Julie, so sorry about your dog. And yes, you're right - your year can only get better from here! And so sorry to all of you with medical issues right now. Especially right around the holidays! But at least you're getting it taken care of now so you can enjoy the rest of the year. :)

I love everyone's resolutions. I haven't come up with a full list yet, but one for sure is to be a yogi. My mom does yoga regularly and looooves it. So she got me a one-month membership and a cute pink mat. I love it so far, so I think I'm going to join! I also want to take more time to read rather than getting wrapped up in Netflix binge watching. Haha. Netflix is both a blessing and a curse.

Julie Thanks Jencey and Bianca for your well wishes. Every day gets a little bit easier. I've never had to do that before, so it was SO difficult!

Good random thought of the day: The needlepoint Christmas Stockings I ordered should be delivered today so I will get to start making Brock's (my grandson) stocking for next year. I am looking forward to it! :)

Sounds like you'll have something to maybe take your mind off of the recent sad event. And you're right, it does get a little easier every day. I've never done needlepoint, but I have done cross-stitching ( a really long time ago), crocheted (not so long ago), and I knit (quite regularly now). I suppose you could sort of say I quilt too, but I've never fully finished one. :)

message 774: by Julie (new)

Julie Oh my gosh! I got the stocking kit & it is way more difficult than I thought it would be! It is stiffer plastic, color-stamped with the color of the thread to use. I'm not sure I will be able to do this. I am going to look at it a little more closely this weekend when I have a good amount of time to dedicate to it.....

Uh-oh, good luck with it! I have become obsessed with making scarves and now have two scarf projects started in addition to trying to finish an afghan and a stocking. I have another afghan that I started a couple months ago....but I'm probably going to have to rip that out and start over. I'm discovering that I don't really like doing afghans.....takes too long.

I just arm knitted a chunky infinity scarf for my daughter, it was really easy and only took about 20 minutes. The hardest part is the casting on, but I found a video tutorial on Lion Brand Yarn's website. It turned out pretty cool and she loves it.

We have already decided on the name BUT we aren't sharing it until she is born. We actually decided on the name before we were even pregnant! We were at a bar having a few drinks and somehow the conversation of getting married having kids and what we would name them came up. The girls name was decided on then (and I will SO share that story with her!) We also decided on our wedding song that night lol. Leave it to us :)

Kourtney, that is so freaking cute!! How long have you and your fiancé been together? Sorry to ask again if you've already said that. :) That's an adorable story, and your daughter is going to love it!! My mom told me that ever since she was little she knew she wanted a daughter named Bianca. I picked my sister Paula's name (I was 3, so who knows how I did that) and my sister picked our brother's name (Nicolas, no H, goes by Nico). Those are always fun stories!

Good luck to your son!! Hope the interview went well. :)

I've been in a reading slump too. Not because I didn't like the books, but because I've been devoured into a Gilmore Girls abyss. Haha. So that's been my life every day after work. I'm almost done with season 6, and then I'm going to stop for a little while to get my reading life in order!

That's a really cute idea Bianca - to let the sibling pick the names. I bet it's a great way to get the kids excited about a baby brother or sister.

Anyone that watches Pretty Little Liars, I read an article about the guy that plays Toby last week and he said that we know who A is. That it's been "obvious" from the beginning. And if you go back and watch it from season one, you'll see it. Any theories? I have a new one - Mike, and that was before last week's show.

Stacy, I do watch PLL but am behind this season. My DVR has about 7 or so episodes recorded. That shows confuses the crap out of me...like sometimes A is one person and then it's not and then there are 700 of them and AHHHHH! All sorts of confusing. Yeah, I think if I watched them all consecutively I think I'd pick up on who A is. The problem is that you have to wait so long between episodes and seasons that you end up forgetting the little details.

I don't have any guesses as to who A is. Maybe Ali? I thought Mona for a while. Mike is Aria's brother, right? I guess I could see him being A. Or maybe someone's parent!!
