Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Here is some randomness for everyone:

1) Netflix is now giving us a month's notice in our queue when tv shows will expire! It seems I have a lot of Law & Order and Wonder Years to watch!

2) IT'S MOVING DAY!! Tonight after work Scott and I pick up our keys and start moving the small stuff. Then we have the movers coming tomorrow. Wheeeee!

Suzanne | 767 comments Good random: My brother is getting married tomorrow! Very exciting. :) I'm a bridesmaid.

Bad random: My tap dance class was just canceled. I have been taking classes through the Palatine park district but I don't live in Palatine anymore. I was still going to go, but they increased the price and it's SO expensive PLUS I have to pay an out of town fee. So I signed up for the class where I live now & it was canceled due to low enrollment. So I guess no tap for me. I'm hoping to save up and take it in Palatine next semester so I can do the recital!

Good Random: Or not so random, it's Friday.

Bad Random: I think I have a fever. My back has been killing me for the last few hours and the only time it hurts in the place and way it's hurting, is when I'm running a fever. No idea what the heck is wrong as I felt fine when I got up this morning. I just want to go home and lay down and hope my back stops hurting. :(

Saturday's weather was perfect for a wedding. I only wish this weather would stay around longer. I'm not looking forward to Winter at all.

Well, turns out I wasn't sick. Had to have Greg take me to the ER around 9pm because the pain never went away and I realized it was gallbladder related. Finally made a doctor's appointment to get that checked out this week. Since we went to the one in Vicksburg, I wasn't able to have an ultrasound done to look for stones because they don't have an ultrasound machine. But I didn't want to go to the one downtown because I knew it would take for-freaking-ever and I just wanted the pain to stop as it seemed like there was no riding that one out. But the ER doc confirmed my gallbladder suspicions. Now just have to find out what the deal is. Not really looking forward to the bills that will come with that.

I'm not looking forward to Winter either, but in a strange way, I am looking forward to Fall. I can honestly say, I actually like Fall. There's just something about being able to wear warm, comfy clothes after tshirts and tank tops all summer (well, not all, not THIS summer, LOL). But I don't want it to get below 45 degrees. :)

Tara Bad Random: It's Monday and I am still sick. I have worked for the last two weeks being sick and it sucks. I finally went to the doctor last week and I was told I had a viral infection that turned into bronchitis. My husband had the same thing two weeks prior to me getting sick and he went to his doctor once and was told it was allergies. They gave him a prescription for allergies and he never got better. He went back and they have him a steroid shot and still said allergies. If it was allergies, how did I catch the same thing? I think he needs a new doctor. LOL!

Good random: This is my last week in this shit hole of a job. I am ready for a change and to not be someones receptionist/admin/personal assistant with the little pay that I get.

Saturday morning I get to take my puppy to the 5k Doggie Dash that is being held by the SPCA. Petsmart will be there doing temporary airbrushed tattoos as well as other vendors. Sunday I am excited to go the our local fair that starts. It's the same fair that I have been going to since I was born.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Sounds like fun! And yeah, sounds like Nick needs a new doc. That's weird.

Good luck next week! I sent that email but haven't heard anything yet. They may not like that I've only been at my current job for three months and am already looking. :/ Not typical for me, obvi, since I was at GGP for almost 12 years, but whatever I guess. Glad to hear the wedding went well, and you had fun. I heard the mosquitoes were really bad this year. I know every time we went out to Greg's parent's house (they live on a lake), we'd get ate up. Sometimes, even during the middle of the day! Now get out that Calamine lotion and pink polka dot yourself up. ;)

That's good to know. I haven't been here long enough for FMLA and I don't get the feeling that my job would be safe if I had to be gone for too long. I was going to put off going to the doctor about it until I was eligible for FMLA (if I was here that long), not anymore. I never did anything with it before because I had that crappy high deductible insurance and didn't want the bill from it.

Good Random: Well, it's Monday so the best I can come up with is that the sun is out and it's a comfortable temperature outside.

Bad Random: The school called and said Morgan was running a fever and complaining of a headache and upset stomach. I had to go pick her up. The whole time I'm thinking it's probably another UTI (after she just had one maybe a month ago). I got her home and was going to take her temperature because the girl in the school office didn't know what it was (she wasn't the one that took it).

She had been wearing a zippered sweater/jacket thing and I told her to take it off because it might be affecting her body temperature. We were going to wait a few minutes before taking her temp to see if it made a difference. She had a tank top on and had her back to me and noticed a huge red spot on the back of her arm. WTF is that? is my immediate thought. So I get a better look and realize it's from an insect bite as it looked like she'd already been scratching at it. But the area around it was red with a darker red ring on the outer edge. The whole red area is the size of a freakin' lemon. And the skin is HOT to the touch, like on fire hot. Of course I freaked out. She has bad reactions to bug bites, but not THAT bad. I took her temp an it was 102.4.

I called my mom who said I should call the doctor. Because at that point, we weren't sure if the temp was from a possible UTI or from the bug bite.

Called the doc's office, they're filled up with appointments for today, but said I could take her to the after hours clinic later tonight. My thought then was, well, if that's the case, I'll just take her to the walk-in clinic that's up the road from me when I get home from work.

Luckily, Greg was having lunch with a couple of his friends today, that both happen to work at the hospitals and they were coming back to see the remodel we'd done on the house. So they both looked at her and said her overall color was fine and she seemed to be acting ok other than being tired and complaining about the headache and sour stomach. So we used a marker to draw an outline around the redness to keep track of it, had her pop a Benedryl and some Tylenol and told her to rest.

I told her if she starts to feel worse, to let Greg know and I would come home and take her in. But for now, she's playing her DS, and I've got Greg pumping her full of water in case she has to pee in a cup later. Poor kid.

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Good Random - I'm all moved in! Scott is away for the next week and a half and I'm getting to unpack at my leisure.

Bad Random - the movers were HORRENDOUS! They completely damaged our wardrobe and broke a lamp that can't be repaired. I'm beyond livid. I need to get my wifi up and running so I can send in my nastygram. I have 2 highly stressed out dogs and over 50 boxes to unpack.

And the worst bad random? We decided to share the closet space where we both have half our closet and half the guest room closet. Guess who filled her half of the closet and the whole guest closet? Whoops! Looks like this weekend I will be going through my closet to see if there is anything I can send to Goodwill!

message 625: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 767 comments Stacy - Hope Morgan feels better! Let us know what it turns out to be.

I got food poisoning and that is when they discovered I had gallstones (my sister had her gallbladder removed about 10 years ago, so they wanted to check). It was about 5 months after I started my job, so I didn't have insurance or any time off yet. I made the mistake of asking HR when I'd be eligible for taking time off and they basically said, I would be required to take 1 week off, and now that they knew about it, they would make sure I didn't try to take the time off before I was eligible. So I told my doctor I couldn't do it until February and she said that was ok. Well, I felt fine then and just kept putting it off. Now it's almost 2 years later.

I am pretty good about knowing what I can and cannot eat, but sometimes I get sick and it really sucks. However, I am just assuming that it's my gallbladder that is making me sick, not something else. I mean, it could be anything. For example, I know I cannot eat Panera broccoli cheese soup anymore. :( And Mexican food is iffy. However, I can eat pizza which is supposedly on the list of stuff to not eat. One time I ate a salad and got sick! So who knows! I keep Pepto-Bismol tablets and Tums with me at all times. I am just not thrilled with the idea of having surgery, not to mention I can't afford it anyway. So for now I'm just dealing with it. Sorry you are having to deal with gallbladder issues too. It's not fun. :(

Well, Morgan turned out to be another UTI. Though, I did find out that the last time, it wasn't a "true UTI" as the culture didn't grow any bacteria. So she probably had some irritation due to another illness. That makes sense to me because as many UTIs as that kid has had, she's never thrown up from one. I think she just had a stomach virus.

So anyway, here we are with another round of antibiotics. She had a normal temp this morning and some of the redness from the insect bite has gone away, as well as the heat from it. I doped her up on some more Benedryl before putting her to bed last night. And she's back to school today. :)

Suzanne, that sucks with the gallbladder stuff for you. I know from what I read online they say to stay away from greasy and high sugar. Greasy I can do, but I can't live without my peanut butter M&M's. :)

When it all first started, I thought it was something like severe indigestion/heartburn. I ran into my doctor walking into Target one day and talked to her about it, joking that I thought I was having a heart attack because of where the pain was and how it seemed to radiate outward. She laughed and said no, I was too healthy for that and told me to take an Omeprezole (sp?) every night before going to bed. So I've been doing that, and most often, it seems like the "attacks" happen when I've forgotten to take it for a few days. But times will go by when I've forgotten to take it for a week and nothing will happen....other than heartburn if I drink alcohol or eat chocolate, pizza, or Mexican.

I've had on and off issues with food before and found out that I have some lactose intolerance issues, some GERD issues, and some IBS issues. And I think it all really depends on my stress level as to how I'm going to react to what I eat. There was a time that I wasn't sure if I could eat macaroni and cheese or not. Sometimes it would affect me, other times it wouldn't. That's how I figured out that it depended on stress. Super high stress? Don't eat that crap unless I have a Lactaid handy beforehand. Other times, I'm good.

The digestive system is a wonderfully fun thing, isn't it? Sometimes, I really wish we were so technologically advanced that we would be at the point where meals come in pill form and I wouldn't have to worry about these issues all the time. And that? Right there? Another cause of stress. *rolls eyes*

Anyway, I guess I'll know a little more tomorrow after seeing my doctor. Or at least have a game plan going.

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments How are you and Morgan doing Stacy?

Happy Monday everyone! Starting this randomness off with BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS…

I got to unpack the majority of my books this weekend! The rest will be unpacked once the new bookcases are in. I randomly threw the books in the bookcase and decided rather than agonize over what book to read next I’m just going to start with the first book on the first shelf and go from there. We’ll see how long this lasts for  So far so good though as I’ve read 2 books this weekend using my new “system” and I pulled a third random book to begin at lunch today.

Morgan is back to normal, having taken her seven days of meds.

I have an appointment for an ultrasound on my gallbladder on Friday morning. We'll see what comes of that.

That's an interesting system. I used to close my eyes and point to a shelf, then blindly grab for one. That's why I wanted to start the challenges, to try to make it easier to choose what to read next. Most of the time, it works out just great for me. Other times....not so much. Especially when something I want to read doesn't fit any of the tasks. :) Which is why I try to not be super specific with most of them anymore.

Most coolest, awesomest, bestest random thought: I. Get. To. Meet. SOPHIE KINSELLA!!!!! Next month, she is going to do a signing at an independent book store in Grand Rapids, a city that is only about 45 minutes north of where I live. Holy shit! It's about time we get someone worthwhile close by!!! I am SO FRICKIN' EXCITED!!!!! I already called the bookstore to find out the deets. Sadly, they don't have anything other than that date/time right now. I'm going to try back again on the first of the month to see if they have anything more. :)))))))

The kinda sucky random for the day: I had the ultrasound done on my "right quadrant" (not just the gall bladder, but the kidney, liver, pancreas, etc.) this morning and while they aren't allowed to tell me anything. The one tech showed the other tech "stones and shadows." So, from that, I know I have stones. What type? Dunno. It took a lot longer than I thought it was going to. Almost an hour. And a lot of pictures. The Radiologist is going to write up a report that should be available to my doctor next Tuesday. So I guess I'll find out next week....

But in the mean time - I'm going to meet Sophie Kinsella!!!!

Suzanne | 767 comments That's so cool that you get to meet Sophie Kinsella!!! So excited for you! Can't wait to hear all about it!

My Whatever Random: Results are in - I have two large gallstones along with two lesions on my liver and a large mass at one end of my liver that's causing the shape to be slightly deformed. No idea what any of that means, other than the stones may be the cause for the pain I have every now and again, in addition to the nausea I have sometimes for no apparent reason. The notes about the lesions said they were likely some kind that started with an h. I looked up that word and it's something of a benign tumor that usually forms during infancy, or something like that. Doesn't really sound like a big deal. No notes on the mass other than it's there, it's large, and it's causing my liver to look funny. LOL

Next up - MRI. Really, really not looking forward to that. I'm a little claustrophobic....
