The book is set in the in the late 1960s and early 1970s in New york and involves a socialite who wanted to be a fashion designer. She was married to a man who a had a drug problem which later contributed to his dead. It also involves a male model who became obsessed her and later wanted to kill her. She became well known in the fashion industry after she made a dress famous. After her husband died she fell in love with an actor who she later later married. She has a best friend who is foreign who came to New York trying to avoid the scandal that was brewing about her divorce and how her husband found her in bed with a another woman

I am not sure when it was published. I went through both Danielle Steel's books and Harold Robbins but no sign of the book
