Please spend a few minutes looking at Week 18's discussion threads (you should look at ALL classes' folders, not just your own). This is last week's folder.

Find a comment made by a fellow student that you find interesting and provocative. It could be something that you didn't think of, or something that is particularly well written, or something that looks at the question in a way that strikes you as interesting.

DO NOT CUT AND PASTE YOUR FELLOW STUDENT'S COMMENT. Instead, paraphrase your fellow student's comment in your own words (and you should name the student), then explain why this student's comment is interesting or different or striking.

Drew | 16 comments I like the comment from Eric. "Everybody is controlled by the government and nobody can stop it because of their fear" is what I think he's saying. I think he was able to say what the statement meant pretty clearly. He brings together the peoples fear and overthrowing Big Brother if they overcome their fear.

Sojourner | 23 comments I like Alvin's post. "People create limits/boundaries so they can have privacy" I agree with this, Because in the book there are a lot of boundaries that shouldn't be broken. Another thing Alvin said was that "In life people have to be on guard so people can protect their secrets and what they have to know." I think this relates to everybody being controlled by the government because people have to conquer there fear over Big Brother.

Chasalyn Salce | 9 comments I agree with Alvin but I disagree at same time yeah we make limits so they could still have privacy but that's not always the case because u don't have privacy just u keep to yourself because celebrity keep to themselves but there always talked about watched and in the papers

Samantha | 15 comments I disagree with shiannes answer

"Everybody is basically to themselves , nobody really cares about what others do . Everybody is under critical watch and nobody really is paying attention to what the other is doing . Basically everybody could care less about what everybody else is doing because they have to worry about what their doing."

because when i read the book Will was terrified of doing something and being vaporized in the beginning then once he began to write it became a slow process on how determined he was on continuing his diary and not getting caught

message 6: by Eric (new)

Eric Rodriguez | 20 comments I am interested in Sojourner's statement that states, "Everybody is vulnerable, but this human trait cannot be embraced because it is artificially imposed and there are severe and real consequences from Big Brother if betrayed."
The reason why I think his claim is interesting is because he clearly explains the strength of the authority and the increase of weakness in the citezens. The people are constantly being watched, and they get punished severely. That is why I choose Sojourner's statment.
