Fictional story - horror/fantasy - element of cryonics [s]

I read this book about 8-10 years ago, but it seemed much older. It's is based in a small town where a group of friends find a slab of ice in the woods and melt it, to find a human being inside who wakes up once the ice is fully melted. This creates havoc in the town. It was a little scary, but that is all I remember! Does anyone here know the book?
