Gisbelle | 25787 comments Good for you Lindsey :) I liked Aristotle and Dante, but it took a while for me to get into the story.

I haven't any books by SK that I like, though :( I want to try Pet Sematary by Stephen King

message 302: by [deleted user] (new)

If you start with him start with something like The Shining or Carrie. Both are great but if you like bigger then 11/22/62 and Under the Dome are amazing! But most of his are good. It just depends on the level of horror you want. Mild or hard core.

Has anyone read "Flowers in the Attic?"

message 304: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Gis, I finished Hate List by Jennifer Brown and read more of Reason to Breathe (Breathing, #1) by Rebecca Donovan but not nearly as much as I wanted because my husband was off today. Need I say more? LOL

Yes! I know I shouldn't love it as much as I do... but I do ;)

Just noticed you said Pet Sematary - could not see the cover on my phone. Anyways that is a great one but it has that scare factor. The movie stills scares me each time I watch it but I love it.

I want to watch the movie that is on TV next week but I want to read the book first. So thanks.

message 310: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Yeah, I love scary books :D I didn't think The Shining was scary, though. So, which of his books you like best? When I read his books (I've read The Shining, & Carrie and watched Under the Dome), I thought they were very confusing. Maybe they were too deep for me lol

message 311: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments Not so much reading time today. So far 90 pages of Horde and 106 of Ketchup Clouds. Hope to get in a few more chapters of Ketchup Clouds before sleeping.

message 312: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 16, 2014 07:43PM) (new)

The Shining was the first book of his I read and really enjoyed. My grandma and aunt gave the book to me when I was in the 5th grade. My favorites would have to be The Stand and The Long Walk and Cell and It. If you watch the show Under the Dome don't read the book, a lot was changed.

Even thought The Stand is LONG I love to reread that at least once a year. Along with a few others.

I hated Dreamcatcher (Romans, Nouvelles, Recits (Domaine Etranger)) - the book and the movie.

message 313: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Thanks Lindsey :) I think I'll try The Stand first.

message 314: by [deleted user] (new)

When it comes to Stephen King most of his books are great.

I hope you enjoy it.

Gosh yes, a long long time ago when it first came out in the 80s! lol It was one of THE books to read back then.

message 327: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments This sounds terrible, but I am really glad my husband works the day shift today so I can read in peace and quiet. LOL He was in a "what do you want to do with this?" and "do you think we should do that?" mood yesterday so it diminished my reading ability! LOL

I am working on Reason to Breathe (Breathing, #1) by Rebecca Donovan and then most Just One Day (Just One Day, #1) by Gayle Forman

message 328: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 7669 comments Vicki, I know what you mean! I didn't get much done yesterday either, but it was all my fault! Too much computer time! lol! :D

I have only read 54 pages of Reason to Breathe (Breathing, #1) by Rebecca Donovan

I have to sign off so I can go get ready for work, but I'll be back later! :D

message 329: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Have a good work day :)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments How's everyone doing? I haven't read much today.

message 338: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments I haven't read much today either. I finished the last 15% of Ketchup Clouds after midnight last night and have listened to about an hour of Horde. Wish I had more time for reading.

message 339: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Me too. Maybe during the weekend :D DO you like Horde?

message 340: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Gis, I finished Reason to Breathe (Breathing, #1) by Rebecca Donovan and OMG!!!

message 341: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments Better than Outpost. So far I think I like it best in the series. Not my favourite 'zombie' series though.

I have Sunday off so I am really hoping to get lots of reading done.

I saw! You loved it :D And I'm glad you did. So far this year I have read only one book that I rated 5 stars. Mostly 4 stars, so it isn't a bad year. YET :D

I see. Great you enjoy it more than book 1 :) I'm not that into zombie books, but I kinda enjoy Zom-B series :D

message 345: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments I am not very into them either. Honestly I have really bad nightmares. I am trying to overexpose myself to them so they are less scary. I think it is working. This year I have tackled quite a few scary books.

message 346: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Good for you! I'm thinking of starting a few horror too. Last year, I don't think I read more than 10 horror, which is kinda sad because horror used to be my most favorite genre.

message 347: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments I only read 10 scary and 3 zombie that weren't scary last year but it was better than the 0 I read in 2012.

message 348: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Whew! My eyes are so tired! LOL! I read 468 pages today! (:
